Yes mate, I read you, but you know as well as anyone it's what's inside that pretty steel box that counts - except for those who never open them, then the box is everything; but most of us want the pretty box AND content as it should be - now that's hardly pointless . . .

And I get your point, as it has been made repeatedly.

Seems to me like there are only about 3 people, who have taken up the last 6 pages posting quotes from the BDA website, who are really moaning. Everyone else seems to be getting on with enjoying their collecting and accepting what is. There is no need for a revolution here. If you feel hard done by then send an email (I see you have done this (at least once)) then wait for the reply and share your findings if you so choose. But post after post of speculating on the legalities of it all hasn't actually progressed in any way and has essentially become tedious spamming imo. I know we all have a voice on here but silence can be pretty loud sometimes too.

My prediction is that nothing will change and this will be released with 3D only disc. The BDA will impose no penalties and Paramount will take no blame. Many collectors will be happy and some will feel hard done by. I'm sorry if you are one of those few.

And @Punker76 I appreciate your comment but it doesn't serve any purpose but to have a dig. It is well known on here that I am a SteelBook collector ahead of being a movie collector and as a result I will buy the SteelBook if I choose, even if I can't view the disc (due to region locking or 3D restrictions etc) because that is what I enjoy. If you took your own advice then surely you could just buy the standard amaray 2D version and stay clear of the SteelBook section, seeing as you are a movie collector after all.

I'm not trying to offend with my last couple of posts. Just asking for the BDA issue to be taken to pm's or something until anyone gets any updates which are really worth noting.

And we do have a Poster and Prints and 118 other forums ;) Seriously, guys, lets keep it friendly in here. If you are not interested in this one, buy the UK 2D?

Thats the problem DB. We are interested in this version with this art and 3D. Unfortuntely the studio is trying to pull a fast one by offering the exclusive art on a 3D only disc. UK retail obligations are clear that any company supplying a 3D title has to enclude 2D either as a separate encode on the disc or a seperate disc entirely. Failure to do so will result in being asked to pull the title or release it with 2D encluded.

Paramount I've been informed have done this once before with Top Gun, which is a catalogue title which I'm guessing many consumers weren't too bothered about purchasing as it didn't get huge promotional material to push it, so it slipped through the net. Unfortunately this film is one of the biggest releases of the year and it has now come to the attention of collectors on mass what Paramount are up to. Yes the 2D art is nice but worldwide, if people want the exclusive art they are being pressured into buying a disc that doesn't meet retail or BDA guidelines. That does need addressed and sorted on this release or Paramount will try the same tactic again. :)

So apparently, both the 3D and 2D steelbooks don't come with the bonus disc that is in the amaray release on Entertainment Store.

If you don't care about bonus features, then good for you. If you do though, like me, then your chosen steelbook is going to be very "light" in that department. :(

Hey Psycho, I hear you in being frustrated, but on the hand no one is being pressured into buying anything-there is always the choice to pass any product by. Whether it has exclusive art or not, it is still up to the consumer on whether they wish to buy.

@psychoscot, I'm the same, can't stand the artwork for the 2D version and think this artwork is amazing regardless of how the film did. I personally wasn't up for this film at all and still haven't seen it yet but I do own the first 3 and would happily buy this for that art if it included the 2D. At the moment I don't own a 3D TV but a few of my mates do and we usually watch the films together anyway so I get the 3D steelbooks for the future when I do finally buy a 3D TV, I like to have the option to watch in 2D aswell considering it's how I watch the vast majority of my films. I might just have to order this and then get the standard 2d disc sometime down the line when I see it dirt cheap and put it in a soft disc holder and pop in the left side of the steelbook (like the wicker man extra disc they sent us, and like I've done with the other 3d Pixar films)

Both the steelbooks are 2 discs - disc 1 is the film (in either 2D or 3D depending on the steelbook) and disc 2 is the extras. The ES exclusive has 'over 3 hours of extra features' on the listing, and you can't fit that plus a 3D film on 1 disc...

Really?

On another blu-ray forum that I'm on, someone had apparently "confirmed" that both the 3D and 2D steelbooks only come with the movie disc in their respective formats.

Its Strange in regarding the Steelbooks in the UK

If the Images are correct on Entertainment Store
The Standard UK 3D Amaray Blu ray has 3D Disc 2D Disc and Bonus Disc

The Standard UK 2D Amaray Blu ray has 2D Disc and Bonus Disc

Steelbooks we have confusion in regard to their contents and which has caused the problems
Its just the Steelbooks that need to be confirmed 100% as to their content
We don't know 100% yet if the 2D Steelbook includes the Bonus Disc
We been told the 3D Steelbook is 3D Disc only but has extras listed so that has to include the Bonus Disc

Why would they include with the UK 3D Standard Amaray Blu ray 3D Disc/2D Disc and Bonus Disc but not the 3D Steelbook
Its possible they do and we be have been provided with wrong information

@paulboland I can see that the first image shows BLU-RAY 3D + BLU-RAY BONUS DISC, but where does it mention that it also contains 2D DISC?

Am I missing something?

I must be going blind! Where does it say BLU-RAY 3d + BLU-RAY + BLU-RAY BONUS DISC?

Here is what I'm seeing...

So what part of the world does this come from ...as it can't be the UK then :(

It is UK standard 3D amaray, and it only has the 3D version with the bonus features on the second disc.

Same disc set up as the ES exclusive SteelBook.

The other image which paulboland posted is the UK standard 2D amaray, and it only has the 2D version with the bonus features on the second disc.
