Be interesting to see if it is really only a 3D Disc and most likely the Bonus Disc

If its only 3D disc that don't have the 2D playback option as neither does the USA 3D Disc
Unless the UK 3D disc is different but I cant see that been the case as the standard 3D Blu ray Amaray includes separate 3D and 2D Blu ray Discs and Bonus Disc

I have the USA version so that's suits me its all the content available 2D Disc/3D Disc/Bonus Disc/DVD Disc and iTunes Digital Copy and Imax version
I have the 2D Steelbook includes the bonus disc on its way to me from Zavvi

I was not risking purchasing the Entertainment Store Exclusive steelbook to only find out when delivered as to what's really inside
I like to know 100% before I purchase any release as to what I'm getting

For those who don't mind if its only 3D Disc that's fine and enjoy your steelbook as the artwork does look good

I don't understand. If you already have 2D disc already why are you hesitant to get this. It has the best art by a mile and it really does not matter for you what disc it contains!

Actually I took that approach myself in the end; already having ordered the 2D Steel. Nonetheless, I will be sorely miffed if this doesn't have the 2D content encoded as it sets a potentially dangerous precident for other studios to follow.

Even the folks in HMV I've spoken to are of the same opinion reckoning it will likely hit their sales one way or another if they begin to sell 2D and 3D versions separately - and yeah even the manager of my local store understands the standard to be that all discs are supposed to be backward compatible - so it's not just one or two of us here who are being fussy . . .

What I can't fathom is that the Blufans version of this same artwork steelbook contains 4 discs, including the imax 3D version, 2D, a bonus (2D) bonus disc and a DVD.
Why is it that we're being subjected to a clearly inferior product then??!

Because no one would pay Blufans prices for a UK release steelbook!

Reason is very simple
I wont purchase a release from any retailer or film studio with a 3D Blu ray release unless it includes a 2D version be it a separate included 2D Disc or the 3D Blu ray includes the 2D version on the same disc
Why because they are meant to and all other film studios do this and its only paramount who have broken this standard before (Disney did it once and never repeated this after complaints )and its only Entertainment Store who are releasing a 3D release with no 2D version included with this film
If this information Entertainment Store has provided is correct

I will keep also highlighting any release to peoples attention if this standard it not kept to as its meant to be

If this release from Entertainment Store 3D release turns out to include a 2D version then I will consider purchasing but only if it has 2D playback included without the need of a 3D Blu ray player or 3D TV as is the standard of all other film studios give you with 3D Blu ray releases

If Entertainment Store 3D Steelbook don't include 2D playback they are the only seller of a 3D release of Transformers: Age of Extinction to not include 2D version with your purchase of 3D Blu ray release of Transformers: Age of Extinction worldwide

Can someone tell me what the difference between the IMAX and regular versions are when viewed on your TV in your own home??
Imax version parts of the film fill your screen fully no black bars and includes more image detail content than the non Imax version its only some parts of the film that are in Imax the rest have the black bars as normal

The Standard version includes the same content but is Aspect ratio: 2.40:1 (Black Bars)
1.78:1 IMAX footage (Fills screen fully) only some parts of the film have this rest of the film is Aspect ratio: 2.40:1 (Black Bars)
Imax version looks fantastic on my plasma 3D TV

Actually they really would.

If only they matched the quality of blufans or kimchi without trying to give half measures. There's a real gap for a quality steelbook retailer in the UK, that one day someone will fill.

The retailers do not make the steelbooks, they just aquire the rights to the exclusive for them, so whatever finnish or design gets sent to them from the studio, they have to sell it.

Well my copy just arrived guys. And it's very nice indeed. Spot glossed on the title and Optimus prime and Grimlock. The title is Debossed NOT Embossed as stated in the OP.
2 DISCS/ 3D & bonus disc.
So the steel is identical to the Blufans and Hong Kong releases...

It not identical if don't have the 2D Disc
The Steelbook may be same in terms of artwork but not its contents
Blufans version is 3D Disc/2D Disc/Bonus Disc/DVD Disc

If your IMAX footage fills your TV, then it is not the full IMAX frame as the IMAX aspect ratio is 1.43:1 which is closer to the old square TVs.

IMAX is overrated for home systems as both Cinemascope and IMAX have more than enough resolution for your 1080p TV. That is how they are selling everyone on the new 4k format.

However, some people like or don't like black bars, so it's easy to have the notion that you are getting more picture, with more resolution. You really can't have both.
