Man, you guys have me ultra paranoid about the paint chips now. I am opening people's packages to double check things.

yep, just came back from Best Buy and the 2 Gran Torino's that were left both had paint chips. I also opened my Clash and it has some paint chips as well. But in any case, I picked up the last 2 V's my location had. Both look to be in mint condition, but than again with this wave you don't know until you open them.

On a different note, they appear to be selling at the BB I just came from. Stock levels are definitely going down, with the exception of the LotR trilogy. I don't think any of those have sold. Kind of hard to justify the purchase of them when on the other side of the display they have the 15-Disc Extended Trilogy for $49.99.

I had to go to 7 Bestbuys to get 2 mint sets of LOTR. That is something I don't ever want to do again. I get in my car thinking I got good copies till I pull them out in sunlight and bam there's a dent or bam there's a paint chip. They REALLY need to do away with those metal racks and those metal push plates.

and those sales reps who slam the cases down after you spent 30 minutes at the rack making sure you got the cleanest copies...

The clerck gave me a pretty hard stare today when I told her to be careful with them as they were collectible. The rather snootily asked if I wanted to bag the items myself, to which I snootily replied Yes! :D

That's funny cuz whenever I was doing all my returns today at CS I would put my replacements in the bag myself. If it was a guy, he didn't care but if it was a woman I thought I was going to get my eyes scratched out.

Question: With rewards, do you need your actual receipts for the price reduction refunds? The only reason I ask, is I went to return some SBs with defects but my wife had tore up my receipt (it was next to her pile while balancing checkbook :wtf:). So, we taped it together best we could and took it in. The CS lady laughed and said we can just pull it up with you rewards account. Then she printed me out a new receipt. This was a different store even.

With some of the price matches, exchanges and returns I've done, some receipts have multiple copies stapled together. It would be nice if they could just look up my account and refund the $$$.

It is best to have your receipts intact for any kind of price adjustments in the store. You were lucky to have an experienced CS person who knows her way around the BB system. Rewards members have that extra benefit since all purchases are tracked for points so the receipts are easily pulled off the Rewards site.

Folks, please continue to post your experience and feedback here but do so with the goal of helping to make things better. Happy days are here again :oohyeah:

They said they did not need to do a price adjustment when I went in today. The cashier assured me that I would only be charged 14.99 each. Of course this was the same cashier that told me I had to go to a regular check out line for any other purchases. Well low and behold, I was not. So now I was forced to send a scathing letter to BB, not that they will care.

all of LOTR Steelbooks at my best buy have paint chips/scratches. If anybody has any extra mint LOTR Steelbooks, please contact me, I'm willing to pay a decent price

I have yet to find a perfect LotR from any of the three movies and I have looked at maybe 10 + copies of each

I should have prefaced that with I would help if I could, which I would but I can't

now that you mention this problem, i had the same but with 1 and 2, the first one i exchanged it once and i had a perfect one, on the other hand the second one i had to exchange it 4 times until i had one in perfect conditions, the only down side when you return to exchange is that they have to open it to check is't ok, good thing i don't need them to be seal...now when i bough them didn't seem to have a problem until i opened them up, so i can not imaging all those collectors out there that don't open their steels,,,,

Rick if this is for your online order, just call the toll free number and they will refund your price adjustment on the phone. Given the state Best Buy is in and the perception consumers have of their service, you never know the kind of impact your feedback may have.

i heard a rumor that if you take the 300 steelbook and smash it as hard as you can with Hangover 1 you get to see King Leonidas kick the baby down the well, and the monkey if you smash it together with hangover 2

True Story!!!

How is that, I pointed out that display with the regular amrays to an employee of Best Buy yesterday and yet as of today that display still stood and no steels have appeared in the store. I posted on the Best Buy forums and was completely ignored. I called to get a price adjustment on my steels and was told nothing could be done until they arrive. How exactly am I going to make things better and what happy days are you speaking of me wasting time and after time going into a best buy to be disappointed and walking away empty handed don't seem like very happy days to me.

Thanks Ash,

I sent an email, as I get really ticked off when I am put on hold like I was today for 15 minutes, when I am already angry. I told the cashier I wanted to apply the difference to the new steels I was buying, that's when she told me she couldn't because once I pick them up in-store for an online purchase, the price automatically gets adjusted. It does on their end, but does not show up in my bank as a credit, it was the full amount.

Best Buy employees do not stock shelves. It sounds really stupid, but they simply don't and I assume they are told by management not to. What they can do though, if they care about their customers, is tell the people who stock their shelves about the problem. That's what my Best Buy did. I asked about the steels last week. They told their stock people, and the stock people put them out the next day. Than on Saturday or whatever, they moved the steels into the display everyone sees.

What could be going on is your Best Buy didn't get any, but they did get the display and the stock people were than told what to do; i.e. stock the display with amarays.

Happy days for me though. I love my Best Buy.

At one of the stores I went to, an employee took it a step further. He brought the 5/22 box out with him and let me grab whatever I needed.

That's what happened to me when I first heard about this and went straight to BB to see. The second one I went to said "No soup for you!".
