I just got back from BB. I am really dissapointed with this wave. Every steel has imperfections that you could not see until you opened them. And every LOTR the Return of the King was dented on the bottom, like the employee slammed them down on the shelves. Major fail

I noticed several of them had marks on the bottom from the metal shelving. The lighting in Best Buy is deceiving too. A couple I picked up had small paint rubs that I could not see in the store, but when I got home under better lighting, I could see them.

Yeah, I have had to exchange many of these. I check them like crazy in the store, but always find something when I get home. :( I have to say, finding a mint Gran Torino is almost impossible. Being all black, it is a lot easier to see the imperfections.

Some of the imperfections I have seen are the same (Two Towers) on multiple copies. So, it must be printing defects.

had a silver line scratch (missing paint) on back of book of eli ... wasnt noticeable in store but big time at home.

ah ok, yeah well tell them to order some in from another store if they aren't going to receive any.

I think that is what my Best Buy did with the Underworlds, I grabbed mine at around 1:30 on Tuesday and they had more than a dozen left went in the next day still looking for a Ghost Rider and they were all gone. I can't imagine them selling that fast as we still had Breaking Dawns and Scarfaces on the shelves until I bought the last 2 Breaking Dawns just 2-3 weeks ago and one of the last 3 scarfaces.

I am having a very hard time finding good condition LotRs most if not all have paint chips. I chalk this up to intial print runs and low quality control for these legacy titles. I've finally settled on what I gather is the best version I can find of these from 2 BBs stock. And the sales girl gave me a dirty look when I held the LotRs and was like please be gentle with them after she slammed the first couple down. I would care about the others but I have good ones of those at home so I can just choose between whichever is better.

I feel for you. Like wreck said I would offer to pick them up but I can see the not wanting to pay a ton for shipping. Heres to hoping you get them. Did you check the regular stock areas. My BBs had these scattered at both the steelbook display and the regular section

I take it you got your LotR after all? Sorry to hear about the quality of them though. I'm going to BB in 1 1/2 hours so I'll see what I see. I hope all goes well. :ohno:

Ther customer service is just bad all around. After waiting in line for 25 minutes to pick up my online order, I asked the cashier to ring up the other steels that they did not fill, and she said I had to go through a checkout line for those. I asked if I had to go stand in line again and she yes, they are not capable of ringing up sales. They did the last time I was there, she said its a new policy. Talk about lazy.

Thanks, I thought that you couldn't return them once opened them, or can you?

Yea I checked the regular stock areas and always make them look it up for me on their computer too. I am going to give it until Friday (as I am told they get shipments in on Thursdays) then I am giving up and going to bite the bullet and pay shipping. I get get 2 of the titles I want off BB.com in Clash of the Titans and Sherlock Holmes (wanted these to go with the sequels coming out this month) but Shawshank Redemption is on backorder so I can't order that one. I am wary about how these will arrive I guess I can wait and see how my Sucker Punch and Book of Eli shows up and see if they are in good condition.

That is very lazy. I went to return my book of eli and exchange a Fellowship on Monday, but I also decided to add both hangovers. The customer service desk had no problems doing all of that in one simple transaction, no extra lines :wtf:

I've even stood in a CS line, asked a qustion, had nothing to return or exchange, and then been rung up right there. I guess some stores are better than others.

Geez. Sorry to here about everybodys BB horror stories.. That sux.. I have 2 BB within a 15 mile radius of work and 1 BB 5 minutes from my house.. They have all there shelves stocked with steelbooks.. But some are mint and others have some scratches and little dents.. I can help people out if they need help.. Just let me know

Service at Bestbuy stores are definitely a hit or miss. I've been to some stores where they are really helpful and some that weren't at all. The one place they really need to improve on is their online and phone line customer service. Both stink. Feels like you wasted hours of your life just talking to someone on the phone for about 5 minutes.

Well, Best Buy finally came through for me. All of my LotR steelbooks are in pristine shape with no defects. wheeww! Thank you Best Buy. :D
Also they had a whole bunch of steelbooks and they all looked in real good shape too. See...

All the little rows were just about filled, like nobody had bought any.

Who organized that shelf!? There is no order or any sort of structure. So Random. haha Stupid Best Buy employees.

:hilarious: I know, it's as if they tried to organize it vertically instead of across horizontally. I thought that Best Buy didn't stock the shelves though, I thought they out-sourced? I know what you mean though, I had to look twice as hard to find what I was looking for because of it's disarray.
