the store in jersey was limited with like 4-6 of each except the LotRs but I suspect some had been sold. My store on SI had like 8-10 of each except both batman movies which were like 20+ each

i picked up the V for Vendetta and The Hangover steelbooks
was tempted to get more but a lot of them i already own on regular blu-ray cases or digibook edition and im not a big fan of double dipping. i did double dip on the hangover steel but only because i had already owned The Hangover II steelbook from Germany. when i go to BB next week to get my price adjustments im going to probably pick up the Batman Begins steelbook. $10 plus $5 off TDKR why not and then ill try selling off my standard edition of Batman Begins for $4 to someone. while im there i may also get The Town digibook

Difference between Best Buy steelbooks and Canadian versions

I'd read some posts about how there is no artwork in the U.S. Best Buy versions as opposed to the Amazon Canada versions. I'd also read that the Best Buy versions are 1 disc while other versions may have 2-3 discs. I noted the BB steelbook vers. of Suckerpunch has the theatrical version while the Canadian vers. has the extended cut. I just wondered what differences (artwork, special features, more discs, etc,) there were in the titles (esp.Memento, Inception, Batman Begins & Suckerpunch) and I am trying to decide which versions to go with ( has to be region free or N. American region). Best Buy and Amazon are about the only places to go for steelbooks that I am aware of, if there are other sites/stores would appreciate that info also. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome ... you are correct, no best buy ones have inside art and all the Canadian ones are from your region (A) so they will all play on your player. fyi most all Asian releases and Mexican will also play on your player.

Pretty much all Canadian ones are of better quality and have more in regards to content. The Dark Knight USA might be the only one (maybe BB too?) that are 2 disc where the CA counterpart is only 1 disc.

While the Canadian ones are overall of better quality these are still great "starter" steelbooks for those starting a collection and wanting to get quite a bit at cheap prices. Then of course LOTR and Hangover are entirely new in regards to art.

Trying to figure out if none had sold, or really if a bunch were purchased.

Pretty sure 1 person cleaned out the ghost rider steels - I've been 4 times in 3 weeks and not seen 1.

The smaller store that I went to had the following:
8 Batman Begins
10 Dark Knight
1 Green Lantern

Everything else was cleaned out so I'm assuming they only received 2 or 3 copies of the other ones or maybe none at all. So far it looks like most stores will have a surplus of Batman Begins and the Dark Knight steels.

Aside from ghost rider, I went tonight and my store had plenty of stock on all of them. Delaware tailors to my needs.

My stock numbers are 0,0,0,0,0,0 never got them, we hate you, best buy sucks and 0,0,0 oh and on the Ghost riders it was 0 we hate you we hate you we hate you.

I am about done in one these and beyond frustrated my 2 I ordered online Book of Eli and Sucker Punch came in the mail today and Sucker Punch as a small ding on the front and at this point I just don't care anymore I am so work out trying to get these I don't even want to bother with the hassle of having them have to ship another one so I am just going to take my slightly dinged Sucker Punch and be happy.

I am giving it tell Sunday for them to show up in store and then just ordering them online again I am sure they will have small dings but its not like I have the option of going into the store and actually looking at them and getting a ding free copy.

Well Sunday with the price lower I am going to order like 6 I think, the only one I can't order is Shawshank and a couple of people have offered to help me so I will see if someone can get me that title.

I am thinking since they are $10 I can't pass up on some of these titles initially I only wanted another 3 (Sherlock Holmes to go with the sequel, clash of the titans to go with the sequel and Shawshank as its my 2nd favorite movie of all time) but now I am thinking I am going to also get both Hangovers and both Batmans as they make such a nice set.

So I will likely be ordering 6 and praying they use a box for the 2 they just used a cheap cardboard slip.

Then you order two online and one comes with a ding and your only recourse is to order dozens of the same title tieing up your money in the bank for a week so you can return the ones that don't come damaged.

I would but one thing to realize is that Best Buy is in a sort of state of limbo with the company changing. I was just saying that there are other options and one of the members here were trying to help out. I know it's frustrating but try asking someone to search by sku maybe to see if the geoship will get them in or where they are. Hope it works out. :movie:

I ask them to look them up by sku every single time I am in the store and I have heard a dozen stories to when and if they will ever get them in. The most common of these is that they are on order and have 12 coming in but have no clue when they will arrive or if they will arrive.

One of the things a retailer / studio will do when they want a "cheaper" run is to do a matte finish on the steelbook.

Matte, in my experience has been more prone to missing paint, chips, things like that in contrast to a gloss finish, etc.

So a "barebones" release, in general is thought to be of a lower quality (doesn't really show off the steelbook edition), rather than one that might have some of these other things that a new release or premium release may have.

Yeah, that actually sounds right in regards to matte finishes chipping much easier. Still, weren't some of the Canadian steels matte finish too? (I know at least the 2 Batmans were). I'd be amazed if the quality was much different between those that are identical in art and finish (except for the inside art of course).

Well still no steelbooks at my best buy, its gotten so bad that I know which of the workers there to avoid as they are the most dim witted, I was going up to customer service and the most dim witted was working it so I went out to the floor and found someone else to look up the sku's, same story different day.

Going to order 6 of them on Sunday online.
