What is your policy on foreign language on Steelbooks?

I'm curious what your thought are on Steelbooks that feature a language different that the one you primarily speak.

Personally I want all of my steels to be in English unless it is a foriegn film like the French film Taken. Then I am fine with "un film de...."

Well every single steelbook released features different language than the one I speak. I prefer steelbooks to be in their "native" language, I will buy ones that aren't, but rarely.

Also, Taken isn't technically french (at least the spoken language).

Taken is a French financed, filmed and produced film. It is 100% French regardless of spoken language.

As to the question it depends on the steel really, I go for artwork first. Foreign titles can look pretty good sometimes.

As long as thire is English Subtitle if only foreign spoken when watching I dont care. I am bad enough with my native language never mind trying to follow any other. English is hard enough when you brakedown the reigonal dialect.

Okay I think I may have caused some confusion, I don't mean the language on the film itself but rather on the artwork of the outside of the Steelbook

For me Art is a priority. I may always obtain an English disc if need be. Love it if subtitles are provided. If it is an English movie I would prefer the original dub of it, especially if 7.1. However I also am interested in how the other dubs are. Especially with a title like Frozen where the I am curious to how the songs are.

I hate printed backs, which is why I got rid of my black suit edition Kill Bill on the cheap - to get rid of it! lol (Didn't realise when I bought it!) That being said, I have just order The Dark Knight Returns part 1 & 2 steels, and X-Men First Class, from Amazon.fr because of their cost difference compared to their English / US counterparts!

I have German Kick Ass 2 because of the debossed title - but the slip stays in my slip cover drawer, never to be seen again!

I also have the Italian lenti of Rush and hate the back with a passion! lol

I have a few 'foreign' SteelBooks mainly due to the fact that when I started collecting some SteelBooks I couldn't afford certain titles as I missed them first time round.

I also have some SteelBooks from Germany that were never released in the UK like Event Horizon and while the printed back can be annoying if the art on the front is good then it really doesn't matter that much. I do try to avoid ones where the title is in a foreign language although I did get The Golden Compass as Der Goldene Kompass is perfectly understandable.

What annoys me more is the blue band across the top of certain SteelBooks!

I prefer English (although not for marketability, its just my native language), but I've purchased non-English Steelbooks before. It's really about the look and what else is available more than anything.

I always prefer the original language (Spagetti westerns excepted) and removable subtitles in English.

English is preferable, but for example my Downfall G1 steelbook is from German and has the title "Der Untergang" on the cover and in cases like that the original language is preferable. And if foreign edition is better than the one with English text, like X-Men: First Class UK versus X-Men: First Class FR, well then I'm completely okay to have some text in foreign language.

Interesting thread. Taking the example in the OPs question, I have the Taken steelbook from France and I'm fine with it. The title is English and 'un film de' doesn't detract.

I wouldn't buy 'Jagd Auf Roter Oktober' or 'Im Körper Des Feindes' though and the spines on some Japanese steelbooks generally make them a no no.

Irrelevant to me. I'm assuming most people would prefer everything they have to be in whatever language they speak (as do I), but it's not going to stop me from buying something if the packaging is in a different language.
