Hey guys-I thought we'd add a fun poll (in OP)so you can express where you fall on the spectrum of Steelbook enthusiasts.

The poll is anonymous and the voter's name will not be revealed-even if you send me a private suggestion. If there are any other choices you'd like to see in the poll, please PM me, and I will add them. You can only vote once, once you submit your answers. But you can choose multiple answers for your initial vote.

Have fun! :scat:

I buy them simply because they look nicer than plastic cases. I try to stick to films I like, but sometimes a good price is too good not to pass up. I do like it when steels rise in value and it has made me keep hold of certain titles in the past just because they are a little bit more exclusive. I don't really collect for money, that's why you'll find that I have zero sealed steelbooks in my collection.

I chose the 4th option. Once you go steelie it's very hard to go back to amaray especially the cheap crappy ones we get in North America

The UK on the other hand have great steelbooks and nice thick amaray cases too.

A few of the options apply to me, but I went with "I am a 'Collectors Ed' nut!" because if you slap that title on a box (be it film/gaming/music related), then I'm likely to buy that over the standard edition. :D

"They just look and feel better than plastic and give my collection a luxurious touch"

Also I don't buy these to sell them later for a bigger price, that is just greedy and wrong to other collectors. I buy these for my own interest.

I'm in the majority thinking that
"They just look and feel better than plastic and give my collection a luxurious touch"
but in the back of our minds...
"I am interested in investing in rare Steels and reselling" (who wouldn't want to be sitting in 15 Iron Mans for a rainy day!!)...but we eventually become -- "I am OCD and strive to own every Steelbook there is!" ;-)

we should have a one last line saying... "I am broke but I am still buying steelbooks because they are there to be appreciated......"

I am a collector, but not to the point to be OCD. I used to get many SBs in a month, but now I am just extremely selective. All in all I collect all different types of things not just SB so it's wise to be picky :p

What can I say... I'm a fan of those little well finish metal casing... period!
I'm not OCD to own them all (not at all, only have 100...), but when I like the movie, I appreciate it even more when there's a little something more that makes it exclusive :scat:

Exactly, my thoughts, mate!
Cheers!:scat:

I can't stand UK amarays. They are far too thick for one disc, and take up way too much space on the shelf. They are the same thickness as 4-disc amarays, it's mental. The slim US ones (but not the eco ones with half the case missing) are my favourite amarays, and we only get those cases for multi pack releases like the latest 4 disc Aliens amaray set.

Exactly my thoughts on this. The only steels I have not opened are ones I already have the amaray of. Once I get rid of the amarays I will open them!

I picked number 2.
I spent 3 years switching out my DVD's to blu-ray and I held out as long as I could with the steelbooks. But then I saw the Resident Evil steels at walmart for $7.88 and I was hooked.
I have been switching out my amarays for steels but I do have a price point of $50 that I won't open if I pay over that. I will just keep the amaray. I do want them in mint condition though, otherwise what's the point of having them.
