I buy them simply because they look nicer than plastic cases. I try to stick to films I like, but sometimes a good price is too good not to pass up. I do like it when steels rise in value and it has made me keep hold of certain titles in the past just because they are a little bit more exclusive. I don't really collect for money, that's why you'll find that I have zero sealed steelbooks in my collection.

Spot on !! i have a few sealed copys of certain rl's only for trade reasons , saying that i just got the batman begins + tdk de rls already own the french rls and the japan versions .. why have i triple dipped on the same films lol

I will double and triple dip because of artwork, but it has to be one of my favorite movies and the artwork has to look awesome. It also has to be deluxe packaging like a steel or digibook, or include a slip that isn't available in the U.S.

I have just started collecting steelbooks because they protect the discs better than regular plastic cases and they look better too.

i only buy movie that i like and if they're in steelbook, i would love to have it.
but i don't buy (at least until now) above $50 steels coz my wife would kill me if i do, hahaha.

there are some steelbooks that very cheap & sometimes it's tempting -_-
beginning to move to the dark side, hahaha

Well I'm new to this. I started by thinking I would list my 20 favourite movies of all time and seek them out in steelbook format. The problem is that I keep 'stretching' the list. At the rate I'm going I will have a large collection but it will be housed in a house where once children and a wife lived.

Had to go with:

I find that I have way too many old DVD's and now my Blu-Rays are starting to get a little overwhelming, so I decided to only buy favorites when they come out and I'll just record the rest on to DVD when they get on TV. (Cheaper and space saver).

So Steel's have me in a pinch - love it when my favorites are released on steel = a MUST BUY, but when a mediocre film is released on steel, depending on the artwork, it might end up in my collection.

I like buying upgraded cases for my favorites - I guess this would be my top reason why I'm a fan of steelbooks I like to have the best version out there of my favorite movies to me steelbook beats all.

I've gone for "luxurious touch"!

I love steelbooks, they just look that much better and feel so much better when showing off your beloved collection. Trying to upgrade any amarays I have to steelbook (where possible), and just recently I have only bought new releases when they have a steelbook format.

Play.com are really helping with upgrading old films at the moment and at a great price point!

I'm a collector nut.. If my favorite movies have a SB I'm all over it.. Just can't help it.. I started selling off all my DVDs to convert to blu-ray.. Now that I have convert over half my collection I'm ready to convert all my blu-rays to SB blu-rays.. Lmao wife hates my movie obsession

I'm a casual buyer. I buy only ones that I absolutely lov and I need to also like the movie. I won't buy based on rarity. It needs to catch my eye and fit with the rest of my collection including my memorabilia. Sometimes ill even put the steelbook with a piece in my collection. Example: I placed my Captain America German steelbook with my Hot Toys Captain America.
