Hi everyone.

I work for Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and I'm just looking at a title listing for our 2022 Titans of Cult releases. What titles would you most love to see on Titans of Cult from our Catalogue?

Thought starters: Jaws / Gladiator / Spartacus / The Thing / Scarface / Jurassic Park

Very keen to get your thoughts though and create something you guys want! Tagging a few of you to get the thread active :) @Noodles / @IRON MAN / @Flloydo /

I'm also not a fan of TOC. I don't own a single one.

I'm always open to regular steelbook releases though. Universal have a great catalogue. Steven Spielbergs Duel is getting a 4K release this year I believe. Wouldn't mind seeing a steelbook for that...

Also would love to see general steelbook releases for Red Dragon to go with the Silence Of The Lambs and Hannibal ones, Harry And The Hendersons, Cape Fear (91), Hard Target, The River Wild, Twister.

How about Dawn of the Dead (2004)? I see Universal was world wide distribution for this but not sure if you still hold the rights in the UK.
Yes

Mondo once said that they never do comedy posters because they don't sell well after release, and I believe it...catalog releases just don't sell.
Honestly I’d love steels for napoleon dynamite, old school, me myself and Irene, Palm Springs And the whole wes Anderson filmography.

Saying that, the hangover and anchorman steels all sold out didn’t they? And few other comedies here and there
YES!

Not sure - Hangover in the USA was WB and they printed a crap ton and didn't sell a crap ton.

With Anchorman, I thought the UK steels were OK but preferred this one for both

Oh mine are from Germany I think. I can’t remember how well they sold. I think my hangover 3 is US tho

Also I just meant comedies in general not just universal releases. You mentioned mondo didn’t like putting them out

Yeah that’s the anchorman I have (I think I won it from you on ninja week a few years back lol) and i remember that being popular. Lovely in hand

Yeah, Mitch from Mondo was on a podcast once where he was like, we don't do comedies...and I was like OH. Interesting.

@SBCollector88 - there's an example of a solid design that people remember, and you don't need to emboss / deboss / super gloss for it to stand out with collectors.

ALTHOUGH, we do like all of those things in general. ;)

That is interesting. Hadn’t even occurred to me looking at their mondo X Line

Literally no straight up comedies

Not many that I'm interested in, actually, as quite a few of the titles I want on steelbook I already have and they don't need improvement. The ones you listed, @SBCollector88, are just all so, so overdone by now. Announcing any of those at this point would, for me, be a huge yawn.

Here are some that I would be interested in, that have never had a steel:

Marnie
Torn Curtain
The Last Starfighter
Mo' Better Blues
A Beautiful Mind (maybe this had a steel? DVD sized? I can't remember. But it needs a good one again, if so.)
The Interpreter
About Time

And some that have had steels, but not really good steels:

Do the Right Thing
Schindler's List
Mulholland Drive

Mulholland Drive is StudioCanal not Universal

Wasn’t there another member here who also worked for universal?

I remember it was around the time shrek 20th anniversary went up for pre order (because they mentioned their friend/ colleague who designed it) and they told us the finish of smokey and bandit because we were all stressing that releases should be gloss.

Would be fantastic to have steelbooks made for Strange Days, Reality Bites, The Jackal (1997), EdTV, Bone Collector, End of Days, The Watcher (2000), Doomsday, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High!

Or, from the more popular ones, Twister, Waterworld, Daylight, Dante's Peak, The Mummy, Spy Game, Inside Man, State of Play, and Green Zone.

Out of the listed, The Thing and Jurassic Park have a couple of recent steelbooks already out, Gladiator had enough of them, not interested in Jaws and Spartacus, so that leaves Scarface.
