I've heard of it but never seen it. Sounds like my sort of comedy though, so will probably blind-buy this if the price is right. :)

Odd choice of film for a steelbook considering so many people are unaware of its existence.
Not a fan of it myself, I saw it in my teens and wasn't impressed.
I might be more receptive to it now, but not a strong enough reason to place a preorder.

I want the finest steel books available to humanity, I want them here and I want them now.

Delighted this is getting released, absolutely love this film.

Interesting choice for a steel, but quite looking forward to the special artwork. I watched this when I was much younger, and I remember being very affected/moved by and rewinding and re-watching one of the last scenes, where withnail had a soliloquy. Cannot remember the exact wording, but hey, thanks to google, here it is:

"I have of late, but wherefore I know not, lost all my mirth. And indeed it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory. This most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire, why, it appeareth nothing to me but a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours. What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason! How infinite in faculties! How like an angel in apprehension. How like a god! The beauty of the world! The paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me, no, nor women neither. Nor women neither."

I am in.

I like how this steelbook is getting mixed reactions .... Its usually either everyone in praise or everyone against ... nice to see some good conversations and opinions in this thread.

I like knowing that there are still people out there willing to gamble on lesser known titles (at least to the world) and put them in a great metal case we love that is steelbook. :) That alone means the future is bright. (In the UK at least) We might see a lot more titles that may be people's cult favs show up.

That being said ... I have no problem admitting I've never seen this movie. I am however going to pre-order this because I want to see more gems in steel that others would pass on.

I also think its safe to say , that no other Country will be getting this ... ever. So it'll be a nice collectors item. Seems to be very well known for the Brits, and I love trying out new things and I'm looking forward to watching many movies that Brits deem classics that I wouldnt otherwise know.

If anyone has any other titles they want to recommend me ... PM me. :)

i'm personally ecstatic that this is getting a steelbook release! its so good to see less well known but still classic films getting this sort of treatment. up to now, masters of cinema have done a great job doing this, but they've been pretty quiet the last few months (repo man and silent running are 2 of my all time fave steels). good on zavvi!! all i seem to hear is zavvi bashing, well kudos to them for this!!

i love the idea that the uk is getting this as an exclusive, makes u feel special (even if i do live in oz now!!).

great idea wreck - about the recommendations. i'll be having a think and definitely will be getting back to you on that!

Watched this for the millionth time and it was my girlfriends first time too ;)
My brother in law is such a fanatic about it, he visited the farm cottage years and years ago and got the infamous brick from the oven!

This film had a DVD steelbook back in the day so there is a precedent of sorts. Sold well but it did have all the old Anchor Bay extras as well as a soundtrack CD. This was my first ever steelbook and I only just moved it on a few days ago.
