Seriously guys this steelbook is in a complete different league to all of the other ones in this wave including Nemo, it's has the xtra factor, you need to hold it and see it up close to fully appreciate it, wow simply amazing.

Looks awesome.
First time ever U & I come to an unconditional agreement :hilarious:

While I agree this is a gem of a steel, I doubt it would top Nemo (haven't got mine yet but the pictures and comments speak for themselves!).

This is the first steel in a long time where I feel a matte finish suits the artwork, with that grimy/dirty tiled background. Unique embossing too with the picture frame.

Pictures look great. But come on, that missing tile on the cover was aching to be de-bossed.

My copy should be coming Today hopefully.

Yeah, that's what I said first time I saw it. Would have been a great de-tile

english ONLY subs :(

otherwise great steel :D

Still, English HOH is an improvement over my previous Withnail blu-ray, which didn't have any subtitles at all. I'm happy. Shame about the lack of extras though.

As nice as this steelbook looks, and it really does, it's a shame that the disc is the Studio Canal release.

The film was first released on blu ray in the UK by Anchor Bay, and that had a better transfer and had around 4 hours of bonus features, if I remember correctly, my copy is hidden away since I moved back in from uni. It was only £3 in HMV as well!!

If I had more money, I would double dip anyway as it's a great film and also a fantastic looking steelbook, but I do usually go for disc content over the package, and the Anchor Bay release has more to offer and a better presentation of the film too. :(

Can't wait for this to arrive to add to my DVD steel and anchor bay amaray release and criterion DVD. Love this film.

Mine is still in the post somewhere..even though finding Nemo that was posted before it and Commando that was posted after it both arrived on Monday :dunno:

I only watched the film for the first time a couple of months ago after owning it for ages (the Anchor bay one that was a bargain £3 in HMV a while back) loved it and just wish Id seen it years ago as I just know it would have been one of those films Id have endlessly quoted during drunken student nights out...

Still quote it during drunken nights.....:smashed:

Received mine today and I'm very impressed. The embossing is great and the matte finish suits the artwork well I think. The best thing... no glue on the J-card. Why any studio bothers using glue I don't know, it just makes it a pain to store the J-cards.

Anyway, this release gives me hope that StudioCanal will carry on producing great looking Steelbooks as they have been a bit hit-and-miss in the past.

Got mine this morning. Very nice Steelbook. Only problem is that Studio Canal didn't bother to give us any extras. I was hoping to sell my Amaray, by Anchor Bay, to recoup a little money, but now I'll have to keep it. Two excellent commentaries, retrospective, interviews, a drinking game etc. Also the Anchor Bay Blu has DTS HD 5.1 Master Audio. What the hell Studio Canal!?

Suppose I'll have to remove the Dvd and put the AB Blu inside the Steel. Haven't done that since Predator.

Yah great looking.... but region B locked with missing extras disc. It's an awesome looking steelbook, no doubt. But now the very people who are buying the steelbook have to go hunting for discs to complete the set. why in hell do studios do this?

Why do they do this.

I just want to know..... for real.

Why?

Does anybody know?

It's a really great question. I will wonder until somebody comes up with a good answer but I haven't heard one yet. Until then, here is the only conclusion I can come to to try to understand:

The decision makers (the executives... the folks in charge) are sitting around a conference table and here is what one of them says to the whole group:

"Hey... let's make a premium quality steelbook that collectors all over the world will just HAVE to have. And then... let's frustrate the hell out of them by not including all content and locking it to a single Region of the world. Ok folks, that's a wrap. Lunchtime.":dunno:
