With Arrow Video releasing Withnail and I on blu ray with a new 2K scan from the original camera negative
with new extras in 2014

You can expect good extras and usual booklet
I wonder will they be releasing a steelbook version

I paid full price for Zavvi StudioCanal version when it came out
Fantastic looking steelbook but no extras and picture quality is not great
I will end up getting the arrow release as I know it will be better

The steelbook is fantastic but its contents is poor quality some of you may disagree but its only a slight improvement of the dvd and with no extras was poor blu ray release
It was Just was StudioCanal getting rid of there stock of Blu-ray and dvd copies
That might have been the reason why there was poor sales

I myself don't want steelbook releases that are just excuse for a distributor to offload there remaining stock and release poor quality blu-ray with no extras and also use the steelbook to get rid of dvd stock

It great when we get a great looking steelbook that contains a Blu-ray with best picture quality and includes all extras
That what I want from a steelbook release

Finally

Finally I pulled the trigger on this - no idea what I was waiting for beforehand (oh yeah, probably for me to get it for less than 5€ using some points :hilarious:). Very happy now!!

Perhaps the reason this hasn't sold out is because the film doesn't appeal to most out there. However wonderful a steel is, I am not going to purchase it if I have no interest in the movie. Even at this price, for me personally its a pass. We keep seeing these niche titles not selling out because I believe the buying pool is small.

I think it's great that more obscure or left field titles get the Steelbook treatment and I'd much rather watch a film like Withnail than all the mainstream, Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer crud that gets released. ;)

yeh, its a very british film. it doesnt attempt to appeal to a wider audience at all, which is what i think makes it so great.
