well sorry digitalbabe if you believe that then your sucking the soup up too quickly imho and actions speak louder than words so far it just seems kick in the teeth after kick in the teeth of late.
i pre-ordered jackie brown turned up this morning let low and behold this afternoon your thread for
here on these steelies
here using code HIDEF10.
it would seem pre-ordering of late has become worthless because steel after steel on the pre-ordering side of things has been cut because zavvi is not selling enough obviously zavvi has got bigger issues going on here and if they carry on the way there going i would think people are going to avoid zavvi even if a steel comes along they want as a point of principle, at which point zavvi is not going to have a steelbook business worth speaking of.
i thought zavvi's aim was to win customers at the moment they are proving they are just more and more overpriced and as a result people are starting to bail now if they carry on they won't have any customers.
currently there pre-order price promise is this:
Pre-order Price Promise: Order this product with us today and if we reduce the price between taking your order and the release date, we will charge you the lower price!
which they are honouring 'just' and that is where the issue is with all of us.
for me they need to protect pre-order final purchase price for minimum of a 28 days after to be fair john lewis do this example below from hduk users
Morning everyone. Ive had it confirmed this morning that if you buy anything from John Lewis , in fact anytime, either in store or online and see it on sale with them again and it drops in price within 28 days of purchase they will give you the difference back. They have just done this and refunded me £90.00 on a christmas tree i bought last week and went in the sale yesterday.
from johnlewis website below
We don't expect you to find a lower price at another high street competitor for the same individual product, sold with the same service conditions - but if you can, we'll match the price when you buy, or refund the difference for up to 28 days after you've purchased from us when you make a price match claim.
point being a pre-order price promise should cover you after general sale for a further 28 days and any price difference automatically refunded to you card.
Lets see if you can get zavvi contact to agree to this digitalbabe, i personally think you will get politely told to go away. If so we know where zavvi's loyalties truely lie and how it regards hdn members opinion and value us as customers going on.
i personally have £232.19 on pre-order atm which i could very easily drop and more importantly never use zavvi again and pushed enough i would and i'm sure there are others prepaid to do the same. They need to remember there are always other retailers out there and some people will cut off there nose to spite there face, me personally are one of those people.
i look forward to what response you get back from your zavvi contact please feel free to direct them to come look at this thread and actually guage peoples feelings on this and what they are prepaid to do regards on the price promise.
many thanks in advance for your help digitalbabe

Hi Basil,
Thanks for your comments. LOL-we've been involved with Steelbooks and collectibles for years-no soup needs drinking. We've seen retailers and companies rise and fall through numerous cycles of collectibles, titles, policies.
We speak with them directly on a regular basis, as we do with several other retailers-and the collective feedback our members have given is no mystery to them-it is always shared as has been stated repeatedly. They do plan to implement some changes. However, for the stock that exists, every retailer that would like to move stock, discounts it if needed-period. That is not a 'tactic', it is a necessity, lest you want to sit on the stock.
The decision to release x Steels does not just rest with the retailer. The studio can enforce it's will as well-take xxxx titles, or get
no exclusives, it's as simple as that. It's the way the cookie crumbles.
HDN has no control whatsoever over what titles they decide to lower in price. If you do not wish to purchase their Steels, that is your prerogative, and it is completely understandable that you would be upset if you purchased an item at full price, and then in 2 days it's discounted. But as always has been the case, we ask for courtesy and mutual respect on this forum, and we will continue to post 1st hand info as received.
We've been collectors ourselves since the 1st Steelbooks ever were released. This is not the first or last retailer that will be put through the mill, whether for customer service reasons, title selection, pricing or other reasons-it's always the same string of complaints amongst collectors-some are warranted, some are because of frustration or aggravation, and some are because folks feel they can in an anonymous setting such as a forum, where a select few folks like to start fires, just to see what will happen.
I personally am not interested in huge print runs, either, but many retailers that do not provide any advance info regarding finish, qty, etc (the majority of them), have had huge runs, and then the rest were clearanced, or sat on shelves-it's happened every where, in all countries, all studios, and all retailers at one point or another.
With 'winds of change', I am simply stating that feedback has been heard, and there is a consideration to do things a bit differently going forward. Whether they decide to do so and to what extent is their final decision-in the meantime, this site will continue to post updates as we can containing info that has been released for posting. Some information is confidential between the studio and the retailer, and cannot be shared-it's always been that way, and likely will always be that way.
The level of frustration with Zavvi, who has spent the last year taking knock after knock in every single Zavvi thread, is understandable. As a customer, you always have a choice of not to purchase. If discount codes are released, some people are happy to catch bargains, others complain that now the Steelbooks are 'too cheap'. Each person has to find their own balance, and hopefully, the 'goal post' policy has one member in particular put it becomes replaced by one that is a bit more predictable, as perhaps different title, qty and other strategies are adopted-we'll have to see. In the meantime, I am happy that they are listening, have made some changes, and are looking to release some additional titles (some with very, very limited runs), requested for quite some time.
