I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Right, removed a few posts

Trying to take advantage of a offer / promotion and then advising how to make Zavvi take a loss in increased costs in return postage really doesn't help ANYONE in the long run does it.

If you have any enquiries with an order you placed, take it up with Zavvi please.

I wasn't trying to suggest that I was trying to take advantage of the offer and then screw them over. After how I've been left feeling I'd have cancelled what I had on pre-order regardless of linked offers. All I was asking was whether Zavvi were allowed to force me into keeping my pre-order. Don't worry, I wasn't planning on deliberately making a nuisance of myself with Zavvi :p

I can't seeing anything releating to this on their T&C's page but it's worth asking them. I can't imagine them making you buy Die Hard 4.0 but if it's tied to a promotion where you've got other items cheaper (and possibly shipped) because you pre-ordered it, they could be bounding you to a contract (e.g order) to make sure you keep your end of the agreement up

never heard of it before in the home entertainment world but I do know that if you order a sofa from DFS, even if you go back to the shop 30 minutes later after you order it, you can't cancel the order and you HAVE to take the goods. happened to me once because I got a massive sofa with a huge discount.

Thanks. I'll let you guys know how it goes. From what I heard, people were ordering Die Hard to get the 20% off stuff they wanted and then cancelling Die Hard, so I'm guessing Zavvi are pissed off (which isn't unreasonable for them to be) and are now forcing people to keep their orders. Maybe they'll ease up after a couple of weeks. But if I can't cancel my order then cheers to the people who were taking advantage of a great offer and ruining it for others!

Have you actually contacted them? I'm sure they will cancel no questions asked. As for the last comment, are you not trying to do the same as those people? You should just keep your order if you feel that way.

I said in an earlier post (which I think got deleted because it was a reply to someone saying I should make them pay extra postage costs) that I will contact them once I have the steelbooks currently in transit, so I can make sure they're all healthy. I was just asking whether they could legally force me to buy Die Hard. Obviously if I email them then they'll say they can!

With the second bit, I did have the full intention to keep my order, but personally I'm annoyed with Zavvi. You might remember me earlier on saying about how they reduced the price of The Goonies moments after dispatching my copy. I thought it was sly to penalize the early birds such as myself by waiting for orders to come in and then reduce the price. People might disagree but that irked me. So I feel if they're going to be too stingy to refund me a few quid out of courtesy then I don't want to give them a further £15 for Die Hard.

I think it was pretty crappy of people to take the mick and cancel Die Hard after getting their stuff, but I did actually want to get Die Hard - it's just after this I think I'll hold off until a price drop.

Well credit where credit is due, Zavvi were very quick to respond to my enquiry about my change of card details. As Jimmyv posted earlier, they will send out an email when they are about to charge for my current pre-orders, at which point I'll have an opportunity to give them my new card details.

What a relief, with just about all of them now OOS.

[Thank you for getting in touch, if your card has changed since when these pending orders were made you need to just wait until an error message is sent to you, which registers that the current details do not match what was on our records at the time of ordering.
At that point you should follow the steps and provide the new details to ensure that the order goes through.
Even though you may have updated the bank details in your personal account, these will not be used for the pending orders and so need to be submitted when the item is ready to be sent and when the payment process begins, which is when the error message will be sent automatically

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch

I use Top Cashback and Zavvi supposedly pay only 2% on orders placed with discount codes or vouchers. However, they track at the full percentage in my experience. I'm not sure if they are adjusted when the transaction is confirmed though.

Typical. Why the hell can't Zavvi just email the code to customers? Never get a chance to use the codes. Many of those I've managed to use before they expired, just don't seem to work for some reason.

sure.why the heck dont they give away every release for free to everybody as a gesture of goodwill. no seriously, i have the feeling many members got spoilt a bit with all the voucher codes lately... they should be seen as a gift from zavvi to us, but some people moan like it's zavvis duty.
