I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

And you would be up in arms if you received a steelbook from blu-fans that way. So what's the difference?

I personally wouldn't be up in arms and I don't see any difference. Steelbooks don't really hold their value anymore, even Blufans releases, so there really is no point in keeping them sealed. Of course it may just be a personal preference and that is fine, but I still think returning an item for torn shrink wrap is a little bit silly.

people that are keeping steelbooks with mint sealed are only keeping them with the hope they increase in value and become an investment in that case and not a film collection that you watch or they have ocd i'll let people work that bit out. :naughty:
anyway there is a better magical investment for people wanting to make money over time its called gold but that is a tad more expensive but rewards could be better

I'm a bit of an odd duck in that I like knowing my steelbooks have value because they are sealed, but I would basically never sell them unless it was an absolute emergency. I figure some day they will be worthless and when that happens I'll crack them open.

On an unrelated note, I got my latest damaged steelbook from Zavvi in Big Trouble in Little China. I look forward to having to do the return dance with them, it is after all the dance of my people... I would gladly trade in all my points for some competent packaging so I don't have to keep going through this whole deal.

I am finally done purchasing from these peeps- just cancelled all backorders. It's hit or miss in conditions with this outfit, they ship in a laughable box, that oddly enough does not cause the damage. They ship them that way. The VERY first order however was mangled, and had some dent in the back. They asked for a photo - i sent it. They never got it - sent again. We went through this three times, knowing full well they got it. Then they said they see nothing - three different reps this process - you can't make this up :hilarious:

I said, okay - prices good, and this site seems to pimp out everything they shell out - why would HDN support such a mess of a store? I gave in - got 8 steels - 2 more damages. Today, yesterday - one smashed inside with a loose disc. I opened it up, and the pieces that hold the disc in place busted off - and three huge dents on the back. Box was MINT. That was it. Cancelled rest.

How can HDN support this place?

It's brutal customer service - especially us not in Europe, although I read enough that even those in Europe have issues on returns, and damages ect. Then, they have all those price reductions without giving any adjustments. Exclusives or whatever - it aint worth the risk. Fool me once, you're the fool...twice, I am.

I'd rather purchase these for a few more dollars from collectors that have them in hand and not damaged.

I am sure the packaging situation can dramatically change once Zavvi starts charging the actual shipping cost and use better packaging. They are digging their own grave by offering extremely low cost shipping to certain key countries. A business cannot sustain for long if they continue like this.

ES is practically doing the same thing on ebay for international buyers. Clearly, there has to be a method to the madness :hilarious:

Yes. To me it is sign of desperation to sell out as quickly as possible. I am sure they are holding some tough conversations behind the doors regarding the titles they chose and the print runs. Small scale independent retailers simply cannot afford to offer free postage on a long run.

20% refund is what they always offer at first.
but just write back and tell them that you want a replacement copy (or a full refund), and you got to return the damaged copy and get full refund also on return shipping costs (you have to keep the post office receipt though).

Not exactly accurate.

If you tell them that the item received is damaged and you would like a replacement, then they will email you the mailing label to print out, then take it to the collectplus agent, get your receipt and its done.

No cost incurred except for the sheet of paper and ink.

Hope that's helpful.

ordered sunshine and 28 days later from zavvi at £16.99 each but they are now listed on their website as £21.99 each, i should still get these at the cheaper price ?

My last issue was on Nightmare before christmas, received with a spine slash...
I had to send them pics of it. they first offered me 20% refund, which I decline and asked to return it for a full refund. they finally refund me and told me to keep the defective item. First time I have to say they really made a great job in my case and I think they are trying to improve their customer service! But my experience might be the exception as opposed to the rule ;)

I have a question for anyone who may be able to assist. I placed a order back on 12/13 and it shipped the following day. I live in the US and I was wondering if anyone knew of the Average Dec ship time. I know holiday everything gets backed up and they can take twice as long sometimes.(Its been a few years since Iveordered during Dec) so if anyone knows a rough time frame please chime in.

My last holiday order was LOST FOR 4 MONTHS
My last holiday order I placed was back when Inception briefcase was released in the UK. I waited over a month before amazon would send another and when they did I got it in a week. Then one day I got a package that had been through hell and inside was my original order that went missing almost 4 months before. Briefcase was damaged but I contacted amazon to see if they wanted it and they said no.
