Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

C'mon you know we don't get premium treatments for premium prices anymore. I'm canceling all of my Disney Pre-Orders until they give us what we pay for. :movie:

A lot of people and members here have done the same. I kind of owe it to Zavvi though, they actually made me stop collecting. Well they didn't actually make me but they did make me say to myself do I actually need all this plap on my shelf. The answer was of course no I don't. Now my shelves are getting cleared instead of my bank account. Most have sold for less than I paid even though they are mint and sealed and the odd 1 or 2 made a few quid but it's the shear amount of money I'm saving monthly which I notice most. So although they are probably the worst online retailer I've ever dealt with they did make me come to my senses and realise I was spending far far too much money on these recycled baked bean tins with dodgy paint jobs and films inside. Steelbook collecting fast became an addiction for me but now I've seen the light of day I feel much better for it, and guess what, the wife has stopped nagging me.
 
Sitting with zero Zavvi pre-orders and that's not likely to change any time soon. A colossal shift in my buying habits from the days of Nemo and Aladdin. :(

Purchases are going to be almost exclusively kimchi, blufans and HDN (get exclusive #2 announced already will you :D) from now on.
 
I've currently got 13 preorders with Zavvi, 12 being Disney and Pixar.

I know people are very unhappy with the recent releases, but I'm curious as to how people are returning them. Do the distance selling regulations allow returns if you just don't like something ?

For me, the worst thing about the releases are the over large jcard, especially when it's blank.

Also, does anyone know how the exclusivity works ? Do Zavvi submit artwork and specs to Disney for approval, or does Disney impose ? Just trying to understand who's ultimately responsible for some of the recent decisions.

It's simple.

If you got a defective Steelbook or if the actual Steelbook did not match the mockup then you can return it as not as described. They send you one collectplus returns label which you can stick to a package weighing upto 10Kg. This means you can pile up other unwanted items in the same package and get full refund.

I will be returning all the Disney Steels this way. My WIR has got 2 paint chips whilst TS2 is not white.

Defective I can understand, and TS2 being silver and not white as per mock up, but how do the others not match up ? Not having a go at you personally, but as Zavvi didn't promise any glossing etc, how can it be returned ?

What I meant was you can still return the rest as unwanted item in the same package as the label gives 10 Kg allowance. So doesn't matter if you return one or 10 unless the weight is under 10 Kg. Please note that you still got to raise returns request and fill in the returns form.

Yep, understand the how. Just not the 'why'.

Why would Zavvi accept a return of something that is not damaged and is as advertised. Eg Toy Story 3.

Yes they do, but normally you have to pay the return postage yourself if you simply don't want it. But if you use lgans trick and bundle them in with the damaged stuff, jobs a good un.
 
Got my response back from zavvi outlet about my replacement 'team america' steelbook, did they even read my email:angry:...I didn't even request a refund on the 17th...time to hit the cancel button on my pre orders!
