I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I'm happy :D to say that Zavvi have just advised me that they have mailed a replacement The Place Beyond The Pines Steelbook after my original arrived damaged in a bubble envelope. I was originally offered a discount but made my case for a replacement copy and they have agreed. So they have lived up to my expectations if my new copy left in good shape and was packaged properly. Thank you Zavvi for listening.

Positive:

-Shipping cost.

-They have released some pretty nice exclusive steelbooks in the last year & I'm hoping they release "TRON: Legacy" sometime in the future, since the first TRON steel was pretty sweet. *I missed TRON: Legacy when it was released in Germany, since all the Saturn's were sold out by the time I got there.*

Negative:

-Splitting shipments, try ordering 10 titles at once & you'll see what I mean, 1 for EACH title. WHY?!?!

-Shipping boxes with very little protection & lite bubble mailers that aren't any better have caused 7 steels to be replaced in the last 3 months. (Why did I have photo each one from multiple angles & then get the go around for 1 week, until I was finally granted the replacement?) *NOTE: I didn't want a xx% discount, stop offering!*

-Initial price is higher than anywhere else.

-Price fluctuations, geez, for as many steels I've bought, this hurts, esp since I'm buying from the US & the currency conversion is quite painful.

Is there a 800 # for us in the U.S.?

There is currently no working telephone number for Zavvi CS either in the UK or for abroad that will get you through to anyone. All CS issues have to go through the website is what it looks like.

Bit strange in today's technological age that there is no telephone support or live chat such as the one you get on Amazon.

I hear a lot of complaints about Zavvi and I just wanted to say that I have had nothing but good come from my dealings with them. I have received roughly 75 or so steelbooks, and of course all shipped separately to the US, and out of all those only 2 were damaged, I contacted Zavvi and got a refund on one and a reship on the other. The truth is, even if I got nothing from them, the damaged steels are not worthless and can be sold on Ebay for most/all of what I spent on them so....it's kinda hard to loose. I love this place and hope they don't go anywhere! That's my 2 cents...just because....

It's good that your experience so far has been good. You are in a very small minority of people that have had good luck. As for damaged steels being sold on EBay for all/most of what they are worth, you need to get your head out of the clouds. Mint sealed copies of 99% of releases struggle to make their money back and most often than not are sold for a loss and quite often a big loss. Try and sell a few of yours and see how you get on, you are in for quite a shock.

Oh and don't forget once you have made your losses EBay will want 10% Paypal will take 3% and then the packing materials and above all the amount of time it takes to take photos etc etc etc. you will get the odd one or two make a few quid if your lucky.

When you do fill out the online form, if you ask them to call you to discuss they usually do, well they have for me am based UK not too sure they would be happy calling abroad but worth a shot I guess.

I wasn't aware of that as it's not advertised anywhere. Good to keep in mind. Thanks

In the past couple months, I had 3 different steelbooks that arrived damaged.

In the first occurrence, Zavvi offered to replace it right away. In the other two occurrences, they offered a discount, for which I accepted for one. I requested that the other one be replaced and they complied.

So their service has been rather decent, to me.

btw, what's with Zavvi shipping the steelbooks individually instead of as a group, when ordering more than one steelbook at a time?

I'd very much prefer to have them shipped together to decrease the chances of lost/damaged mailpieces.

Anyone have any idea?

(sorry if this has been discussed previously, but I couldn't find anything on the subject)

I completely agree with you on the issue of separate shipments and minimal packaging. I'm not sure if the thin, cardboard boxes are better than the double bubble-wrap packages they were temporarily sending out.

Hopefully, they make some changes to enhance their delivery services.

I just canceled my Indy Steelbooks and all my other pre orders except for Dumbo. Will order the ones I want once they drop in price. F,uck playing Zavvi's pricing games.
To be honest I have catalogue title burnout. I would much rather put my coin toward a nice new release, and there is gonna be some great quality releases during 2014.
Like the folks have said, vote with your wallets, pound power.

Woohoo 2000 posts.

After all of the crap I've been through with Zavvi, I just wait for their titles to pop up on Amazon or eBay now. Yeah you'll end up paying a little more for them, but you don't run nearly as high of a risk if something goes wrong. I'd much rather deal with a problem or a return on Amazon than Zavvi.

Can someone please explain wtf is going on with my order and what i can do to rectify it?

I forgot to update my card details before my old card expired. I received an email today for Aliens saying the payment wasn't processed.
I've since tried god knows how many times to 'resolve' like they ask you to but each time I do it it logs me out.
I've added a new card but that still doesn't have seemed to made a difference. I've also sent them a message (still waiting for a reply) and have phoned them for a voice recording to tell me that I have to do it through the website (even though the email I had told me I could ring that number).
How the F**k this business hasn't gone bust yet is beyond me. The customer service with them is shocking!

Is it possible to place a new order seeing as Aliens is still in stock? Then just cancel the older order. Saves you the hassle of dealing with the customer service. :p

That's what I did in the end :) I had that and Thor on pre order with 10% off so I'm gutted I lost that but it's no big deal. Can't believe they can't/won't rectify something so simple. I went on Amazon changed the expiry date and it was done instantly :what:

got exactly the same problem, ordered it originally with a card that has now expired but has since updated payment details for any other orders to be charged to my new card number so zavvi now have my original number and an alternative one to charge but they still can't link the two together. if i try to put my new number against the order it kick's me out so i need to log in again but nothing changes
i have since cancelled my original order for aliens and filth and re-ordered them along with die hard 4.0 against my new card, which leads to another problem as when i originally ordered DH4 i had used a discount code on something else on the same order which has been delivered so it won't let me cancel the original order. does anybody know if i am correct in assuming that this will eventually be cancelled after a certain amount of time ?
honestly zavvi , it's not exactly rocket science to update orders by saying don't charge this card use this one instead :angry::angry:
