I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I am having the updating payment info issue now after my card bounced. Like others here, it just logs me out and brings me to the log in screen and after I log in it goes to a blank white screen. This has never happened to me before. I have always been able to update my payment method after my card bounces. :(
I hope they fix this before the system automatically cancels our orders.

Just tried, no change. Nice to know that a full 24 hours isn't enough for them to fix the problem which prevents people from giving them money. Stellar job.

:smashed:

Same here.

I have not heard a peep from them since late yesterday morning between an email and a tweet to their customer service group. And still having the same technical issue with their site to try and re-charge the payment info.

I had a fraud check by HSBC because so much Zavvi stuff was going out. They promised me that they hadn't stopped payment but they did and I can get it to resolve the problem. It would on the Peter Pan and Dumbo Steelbook!

Why would Zavvi wait until now when any hype has died down and they have already started discounting the title? Why not do it a week after release when people are still talking about the film and it is still at full price? I have heard some funny things on this forum, but this just about takes the cake :hilarious:

zavvi still probably have a few thousand allocated for their outlets.

you can still get it via zavvi outlet at play.com for £25.95 :/

see, not sold out.

How is stating something that's happened previously the funniest thing you've heard on the forum?

See the Jungle Book and Little Mermaid for reference.

Those two initially sold out and were then made available again, the reason being that the print run was increased as Kashby said. This on the other hand has never been marked as sold out until now. So what you are referencing is completely irrelevant.

What I find funny is that you can't seem to grasp the ludicrousness of the suggestion that Zavvi would wait five months to action this plan rather than simply do it a week after release when collectors still actually give a damn. Apart from those continuing this debate, no one else cares that this is sold out. So either Zavvi have made a massive miscalculation or you're just talking crap.

what about the kill bill 1 and 2 steelbook. that went out of stock but seemed to resurface at a later date?

there are a few other steels that went out of stock and back in again too.

zavvi also have wicker man as sold out, when its readily available from them at another 'counter' ... why would they do that (genuine question)?

why would they say a product is sold out, when they still do actually have stock of that item.

if they have all the items ready for sale, then they would lose nothing by offering them for sale at the original sale point (zavvi website) as well as offering them for sale at their outlets.

arguing they want to keep stock for sale through their outlets doesnt make sense, since in the end, its only the number of units sold that matter, not which 'counter' they are sold from.

?

all it does is create confusion because for weeks i was under the impression that pans labyrinth was gone forever. only for somebody to point out that its actually not, its just being sold somewhere else by zavvi. bizarre.

I care as I've not got it yet. I - among others - were waiting on further price drops.

Jungle Book
Little Mermaid
Kill Bill 1 + 2

Ill let others add to the list.
It seems you're the one "talking crap"

if you were waiting for it to drop in price and that's the reason you missed out on it then that's your fault

Lots of Steelbooks go in and out of stock all of the time. People are placing orders and cancelling orders all the time. It happens with every retailer, even the mighty Amazon. I don't see many complaints when a Steelbook sells out at Amazon before magically coming back after release date at a higher price.

Why would they mark an item as sold out? Maybe, as I previously said, they allocate a certain amount of stock for each outlet. That way you can avoid the issue of taking orders for stock you don't have. It is clear to see that Zavvi's website and systems aren't as good as they should be. It is also good for exposure. Way more people are aware of Play.com and especially eBay, so why wouldn't you make use of that?

Yes it sounds like someone is a little upset as they were hoping to get it for a bargain price.

It pretty convenient that Iron Man 3 has sold out 2 weeks before Thor 2 is to be released, especially with the number of people that are cancelling to buy elsewhere or holding out for a price drop.

Its clear they are trying to push Thor sales by leading people to believe that IM3 has sold out, and then magically stock will reappear again.

Back to the topic of the payment correction issue on Zavvi's site.

Looks like the site is working correctly now and some of us were able to re-charge/correct the payment info.

Good luck, fellow ninjas!

How exactly does it push sales of Thor: The Dark World? If anything it makes me think that if it has taken five months for Iron Man 3 to sell out, then is is safe to wait for a price drop.

Zavvi clearly does not care to respect their customer/buyer base. They release dumbo and lady a week early... Charge/dispatch ... And THEN announce they are matte and then change the release date on their site.

Thats some serious BS right there. Straight up.
