Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

Zavvi by far is hands down one of the worst retailers imo... Where the hell are they finding these copies ? why do people get screwed in returns when they still have these in stock ? I was so looking forward to jungle book since its one of my favorite disney flicks but i will not support a lying, greedy ass company like zavvi anymore

TWICE they have re-listed these on their ebay site after aladdin was supposedly "sold out" and not mention the increased print-run...

From a retailer's perspective, this makes no sense at all. If Aladdin has sold out, then Aladdin should remain sold out forever.

That is how "Limited Edition" works. This is a collectible steelbook that was guaranteed to be limited to 5K print run.

I have to say... Zavvi has some serious egg on its face right now for posting more Aladdins on their outlet a month after release date of a steelbook that supposedly sold out long before release. (in April)

It is a poor show from Zavvi but it is no doubt down to the stock system they use which is clearly inadequate. Even so it's not always possible to know the exact amount of stock you hold for everything you are selling, especially when you have orders being cancelled, cards being declined etc. all of the time. It's not as if Zavvi are the first retailer to do this, Amazon (Skyfall, Willow etc.) and Play.com (probably every exclusive they released) have done it numerous times in the past. I think those who missed out will be glad to get another chance. There is room for improvement though so I hope Zavvi take note.

The only difference is the other retailers put up stock back on their own site and not on Ebay at a raised price. Shouldn't matter if stock system is outdated. Put it up for sale on your own site. No other retailer does this that I know of. For credibility, when stock is realised, it should be on their own site and not eBay store

Not only do they inflate their prices on eBay, they exaggerate its scarcity claiming an exclusive 4000 print run, when everyone knows it was raised to 5000 - I think that is false advertising.

YEAH, exactly. The Conjuring has not sold out yet, and it's quite cheap for a Zavvi exclusive, and only 4K print run (according to Zavvi), a popular movie and a new movie. Still not sold out.

I think Scanavo should be the one announcing the print run, I too think Zavvi is lying...

Like you, I don't believe a word about print runs and don't like Zavvi's tactics but I think you are are overreacting in this instance. There is nothing wrong with expecting popular titles to sell out quickly but it doesn't happen always considering the sheer number of Steels being released and the release date set for this title.

Transformers, Battle Royale, Old Boy, Zombieland, Black Hawk Down, Universal steels etc. took ages to sell out and many are still available in stock. Some of them have dropped down in value so much that it has prompted many early birds to play the waiting game and grab one at a bargain price.

Last but not least go by your instincts and not the hype.

"the conjuring" is up for pre-order since 5 days (02/08), so i wonder why anyone could believe this should be sold out already.

and my experience so far is that it's always good to stay a bit skeptical when a company announces infos before release date, but not to get paranoid and too wary about it.

...and it really would be interesting to hear some official statements directly from scanavo regarding that print-run topic.

I just received my shipping notice for my Jungle Book SBs. Could someone explain to me why you don`t get a Tracking Number when you choose the International Tracked option? And why they claim in the shipping confirmation that I did not choose a tracked service. It was the first time that I tried this option, because I did not want to go to custom for each single package. Each time I ordered with standard delivery I received a tracking number (which did not work), but the first time I choose the other option I don`t even get one. It`s not making much sense to me, but I guess that is zavvi.

Afaik they offer and charge tracked shipping but they send it out untracked like the standard shipping method. I don't know one user that was able to track his package. They just rip the customer off (thats my opinion).

Is there no end to the errors in zavvis existence?

I see zavvi has marked the jungle book as sold out but if you look over on play.com zavvi outlet allegedly have nearly 200 on there. Imminent ebay markup i reckon. Everything they do at the moment appears to be a shambles

i'm very lucky so far with zavvi though, 9 out of 9 steelbooks arrived in absolutely mint condition, never had a reason to complain.
