Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

I now have to return the second copy. I reckon my refund (if I ever get it) is probably going to take at least 3 weeks all told. In which time I've sent a stack of emails and returned two copies of TJB.

Didn't expect their customer service to be any great shakes, after what I head read, but I didn't expect it to be this inept. :BS:
 
Having waited a full week now for my refund, I get an email this morning to say, they have now despatched my copy of TJB. Well done Zavvi. On the bright side I get to experience their return procedure for a second time, yeahh. :BS:

Exact same issue with me with Evil Dead. I told them the replacement they dispatched it THEIR responsibility and I am taking nothing to do with it. All I am interested in is my refund and I won't be returning anything else as I didn't order a replacement.

If they still intend to wait for their error copy to be sent back, then the next step is Trading Standards.

I am sick of Zavvi with their generic answers.
 
Close Encounters - Returned 2 copies together. Got refund for only 1 on 12/Aug/2013. After couple of emails I was promised that refund for the other Steelbook will be issued on 17/Aug/2013. Nothing till date. Even if they had walked to London from Channel Isands and deposited a cheque I should have got the refund by now. :rolleyes:

My replacement copy showed up today too Guess what not only did it arrive in a plain brown mailer but its still spine slashed...F*****g A******S :angry::angry::angry:







I am amazed it is dent free EEK!
 
To put a little perspective on things -

Oblivion UK steelbook was £16.50 before it went out of stock on Amazon. Now that it has released, they have acquired more stock and now the price on it is £20.00.

We can't just blame Zavvi for doing this and flaming them

I sent them an email, requesting an immediate refund (fat chance) as like you I figured this is their mistake.

Talk about compounding an already bad situation. Bad enough that someone slashed all the copies in the first place, they also go and send them out to us damaged. Then when we return for a refund they send us a replacement instead. By the way I had a look at the replacement and you guess what, slashed. :hilarious:

Got a shipping notice email that Evil Dead has been shipped when I had clearly asked to refund in the returns form. WTF. It took me 30 minutes to repackage about 5 of them and I now have to go through the pain of returning again.:angry:

This is shocking. The only explanation is someone is taking the piss at Zavvi. Nobody can be this incompetent.

Just received my 12th steelbook from Zavvi since I started keeping track of "issues".

It was Jungle book and, obviously, I have been expecting to be sorely disappointed considering what I have seen here recently and experienced for myself.

I'm SO happy that I received it dent and ding free, but also with no spine slash or badly offset embossing.

Now, I should note that of the 12 now received, 9 of them have had issues. I have received one replacement at no additional charge, and two partial refunds (very small refunds to be honest).

To put these numbers in perspective:

75% of what I have received in the recent past has been damaged.

I have filed 3 claims and chalked the other 6 issues up to bad luck. (50% with damage under the Jcard, small dings and/or scratches that I have decided to live with)

Of the 3 files claims, 100% have been resolved. 1 highly satisfactorily and the other two somewhat.

This leaves me with fair pricing from Zavvi overall and a great selection, but with a net total of 8 damaged steels of 12, one mint replacement, and only 3 steels received in good condition from the start.

Pretty unimpressed, but with steelbook fever there really is no other option but to persevere and hope that they work out these issues sooner rather than later.

The BANKHOL50 code is a right pain as it only works with random stuff. Spent the best part of an hour trying to find items it worked with to put me over the £50 spend. It doesn't work on certain IN STOCK steelbooks and only works on certain pre-orders. I found it doesn't work on MOC or Arrow titles ( though I only tried the latest releases which came out a few weeks back, such as 'Runaway Train', 'Le Pont Du Nord', etc) and it only works on certain titles in the 2 for £11 offer.

Ended up with Iron Man at £21.44, Time Bandits at £15.14 and 2 amarays for £4.97 each. Not bad at all.
 
Still chasing the refund for 2x Close Encounters. They refunded for 1 SB around 12th and not for the other one yet which was in the same package.

Their reply acknowledging receipt and initiating refund.

I told them i wanted £3 partial refund off each and they have actioned it. Ill have to deal with evil dead remake / 2 both having scratches. Much rather that than piddle around with returns.
 
still waiting for my TJB - ordered 8/7 - send them a Missing Item Notification yesterday - have to wait till 8/29 before they can investigate further - bravo Zavvi:angry: - what do you want to investigate since there`s no tracking available? Just another f...ing standard reply - nothing more,nothing less:p
