Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I'm 99.9% sure he doesn't work for Zavvi, he just gets a kick out of winding other members up with his overly positive comments. He keeps doing it because he never fails to get a response.

Ah ok, I just wondered if any Zavvi employees were on here that we could quiz about the steelbook pricing. It would be nice to get some sort of answer or some feedback sent to them as is being done with the steelbook spine slashes.

I think people don't realise how little ground level employees in most companies care. That goes for their phone and web support and their warehousing guys. They all likely get paid minimum wage and literally couldn't care what anyone thought. Lets face it. Unless you're speaking to their marketing strategists f-all will happen.

I have a problem I need advice and help from you guys! Jungle Book steelbook from Zavvi. It arrived with a scratch down the front. Its taken a few days for them to respond to my e-mail. They are asking for a pic before they do anything. I don't have a digital camera or camera on my phone, and just recently out of hospital following surgery, and this is all driving me crazy! Are they allowed to do this? Am I best just asking them to refund me and buy another one? They are seriously getting on my nerves now when I should be convalescing. Any help would be appreciated.

Wanted to post this here too as I got The Jungle Book from Zavvi this morning and the packaging it came is is not very good at all. No shipping damage but I wouldn't trust sending an item out with so little protection. Not sure you can even call this 'foam'.

God that 'foam' looks thin!, more like tissue paper than any kind of foam I've seen.

So now they're effectively just relying on the box to protect steelbooks because I can't see how that super thin 'foam' gives any protection at all.

Coudn't have put better than VRob but I would like to add that people should use their commonsense.

My experience with Zavvi so far is good, I bought several SB's with Zavvi and never needed returns for damage, I've had problems with ordering delays, more than 40 days, and complained Zavvi did refund immediately. Once received and communicated them again authorized the charge to the credit card, also two replacements, I ended up receiving the original too, they did not request return.

I think you are right. In theory the boxes were large letter size but when I used these boxes with a SB and the old foam there was a bulge in the box and that post offices would sometimes not let it go as large letter as it wouldn't go through the 25mm template freely.

I hate spine Scratches. I'm really a "Spine Guy", it bothers me. I've sent items back for less than that. I just picked up Taxi Driver Uk I believe and it had some superficial scratches on the spine. Not too noticeable but it still pisses me off. I let my Seller know I was letting it slide this time & he's giving me $25 on the a $100 item. I got Bourne Identity target exclusive $25 has a minor ding on spine!

Finally got a response to my email on Saturday (spine slashed JB).

Seems I need to print a Collect+ label and go and find a local shopkeeper who is part of the Collect+ network. I also need to print out a return form.

What a pile of c**p. I've no access to a printer Today or Tomorrow, so it will be Wednesday before I can go looking for my "local shopkeeper".

If I was dealing with Amazon I'm sure they would have already despatched a replacement and probably just told me to keep the damaged one.

The replacement better be mint, that's if they don't run out of stock before I can get this one back.

If you have paid by Paypal just open up a dispute. Sometimes it's a good idea to pay the extra 22p Zavvi charge for using it

My copy of The Jungle Book had a slash underneath the shrinkwrap, straight through the second 'o' of 'book'. Disappointing.

Got mine, but got a spine slash, definitely happened in the warehouse as the shrinkwrap is sliced too. My first damaged steel from Zavvi. Considering just getting the amaray, but in the back of my mind ill always be wanting the steel! :/
