I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

I ordered a second copy of the Jungle Book while waiting for my spine slash replacement (figured doubled my chances of getting a mint one). It arrived yesterday in this new packaging - no spine slash, but nice big dent instead. Zavvi are a joke.

Sorry to hear that headhunter, that's awful. I'm not impressed with their refund procedure either, I'm afraid.

You've come to the right place to vent your frustrations.

Well said mate. I am counting the cost I spent on the packaging materials for returning and it is gradually piling up. More than the cost it is the effort involved in packaging and time spent in waiting for a refund.

The new packaging is designed to fit Large Letter as new rule says the package must slide in the scale without getting stuck. which is almost impossible with the thicker foam.

This means Zavvi are saving at least 1.50 per package. However this doesn't do any good w.r to overseas shipping. If Zavvi wants to save on postage they should start charging correct price for overseas customers instead of us paying the subsidy.

I don't mind if Zavvi want to penny-pinch, just as long as they take responsibility for that decision. At the end of the day, surely it'll just mean more returns and will lose them money in the long run?

Why would you spend money on packaging materials to return an item that was damaged in the first place?? Just return it in the box it came in.

This is not about a particular return rather half a dozen of returns.

You at least need few meters of parcel tape and it doesn't come free. Ultimately the buyer is out of pocket, doesn't matter even if it is a penny.

Well if Zavvi carry on with these antics and **** packaging I will just cancel all my orders of steelbooks and make do with what else is available.
Just can't believe Zavvi's management , they could be on to a winner here if they would just listen to the cash paying customers.
It takes ages to get a good name and 5 minutes to damage it , shame on you Zavvi.
Sort it out before you lose your customers for good.

I don't get it,are they clueless or just that arrogant to think we'll put up with anything?
Great business plan, piss off your existing customers with overpricing, poor quality control and customer service and now they add inferior packaging.
Well done.

This is exactly the right way maybe we can achieve something.
We should have a I have canceled my order open up trade!
Sorry for my bad Enlisch.
Greetings to all and have a nice weekend

I doubt whether it is the right way - I do not know if there is ever a way to change this behavior from Zavvi. They want to make as much Profit as possible- that's okay for them . But they should never underestimate the power of the purchaser's. HDN is a very large community and this forum is read by many people worldwide. So my Appel at Zavvi: Think about it exactly which way you want to go in the future and do not take the one-way street.
Profit is not everything in life and besides that: happy customers are good customers

The rest of these Disney releases from Zavvi better be region free or I'm never ordering from Zavvi again. I can't believe they just don't keep track of that on their website at all. They send many steelbooks out with spine slashes, have no way to update payment information on an order after it has been placed. Have basically no reliable customer service. Just give stupid generic responses on all inquiry's like tell u to re order a sold out item u tell them its sold out in the email u send to them. Sometimes they won't give u credit back for a returned steelbook and I believe the customer even has to pay to ship it back to them which is why I didn't bother returning my region locked steelbook. This company, it seems like they do not care about their customers at all.

Region locked or not depends on the editor, nothing Zavvi can do about it, you know that.

Yeah but they could bother to keep track of that information on their product page instead of having to go thru other sources to find out. Instead they r lazy about it and mark everything as region b.

I may be cancelling most of my upcoming orders as 2 of the 3 i received last week were damaged behind the jcard.

I simply cannot justify full price preorders if they are going to be in sub par condition.

In fairness I think most of last weeks blame (damage wise at least) lies with Studiocanals packaging department. There is no way those marks/scratches happened AFTER the packaging was applied. They should never have been sent out. End of.

I will think long and hard again before buying a Studiocanal release.

Having said that, my Oblivion is on it's way and I'm terrified of Zavvis new flimsy plastic coating to protect the Steelbooks :(
