Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

My personal experience is good with Zavvi, have ordered a few Steels from there and all have ended up being perfect with no defects and such, personally I could care less about how they pack it as long as I get it in Mint condish
All have also been delivered sooner than expected so good experience all round for me

After going crazy on Zavvi preorders for the Disney and Pixar back catalog releases I have now cancelled all except WIR and Frozen.

Many on here ask for more info on the finish etc and get most nothing in return.
All the Disney and Pixar back catalog steels are recycled artwork.
Finding Nemo and Alladin were excellent, jungle book different, The Little Mermaid the same as the US 3d version but now the new releases the same artwork as the standard Amaray.

After Monsters University I am not getting any on advance order any more except the 2 mentioned above
 
My personal experience is good with Zavvi, have ordered a few Steels from there and all have ended up being perfect with no defects and such, personally I could care less about how they pack it as long as I get it in Mint condish

Believe me you are in a minority with that statement and as someone with just 10 posts it's no wonder you so far have had a very good experience. I can honestly say by the time you are writing your 100th post and beyond your experience will have changed just like everyone else's around here.

Zavvi do not give a flying ----- about you or any customer come to that. I honestly believe they will soon be out of the steel game for good as they get bit more and more.

Before Xmas I had a very bad experience and cannot be bothered to even go into but what I will say is that because of this I cancelled a lot of pre orders approx £800 quids worth.

This weekend when I had finally got hold of a pain and gain from them it turned up all smashed in, yes in a double Jiffy bag, thanks Zaavi. Now today I have cancelled everything, Disneys THE LOT. approx £600 quids worth. I've had it with Zavvi and steelbooks come to that I'm out the game.

I can see myself being at least a couple hundred quid a month better off and truth be known probably a lot more.

Good luck guys and happy collecting you'll need it. I've just come to my senses and what the hell do I need all these things for, they just sit on the shelf and collect dust that's it. I'm getting rid of the lot, I know most will sell at a loss but I'm going to get what I can while I can.

So although I hate Zavvi for the stunts they pull with their steels I also thank them for bringing me to my senses and yep I'm free of this hobby and TBH I'm glad, for one it's flipping expensive and 2 I'll never av to deal with Zavvi again

they are out of boxes,hence the double jiffy,i had about 3 sent in jiffys and they all turned up mint,whenever i have had a damaged steelbook i' have contacted them straight away via facebook,they usually offer me a 10 percent refund or something,i decline (obviously) then they give me the details to where i can post it back for free and they will send me a replacement,it's just you mate,zavvi are not as bad as people make it out.

their customer service is meant to be bad. I am probably in the minority in saying ive never had a damaged steelbook off them and therefore never had to contact them and ive bought probably 20+ steelbooks off them. Instead of only blaming zavvi, mybe you should also be looking at your local postal service aswell?

The ones that I have had that were damaged were due to spline slashes etc. No problem with the outer package being damaged.

I've bought > 90 Steelbooks from Zavvi. 4 of them have been damaged - and have been replaced for free after I sent them a photo of the damage. They do not request to return the damaged item, what makes it very easy to work with.

And, if the item do not arrive within 21 days after dispatch, they will send you another copy for free (you have just to send a message to request this).

Alltogether, I'm quite satisfied with Zavvi. Especially, if I remember my nightmares with WOWHD :naughty:

Zavvi don't request you send them back because you are not in the UK. I am and I have had absolute nightmares having to deal with their abysmal customer service.

Recently their CS has got a bit better but its still too much headache. If there is a steel I want I'll buy it from somewhere else (if tradewide), trade for it here or look on ebay as you can pick up things close to cost so long as they are not OOS. I only use Zavvi if I REALLY want a steel and they have the exclusive.

I live in France and always got my steelbooks in a box so far (except at the beginning like everyone here)

the only troubles I got was "loose disc" never get a dented or ding item ... fingers crossed

Zavvi never refunded me at least a small amount when I complained a couple of times about the "loose disc" problem ...

Speak for yourself, I have never had a problem with them. Any issues have been sorted, albeit a little slowly. You say that you had a very bad experience yet you don't want to go into detail. If it is such a bad experience, then surely you would want to reveal the details to help other members (those who aren't as fortunate as yourself to have 'come to their senses')? It reminds me of another member where it turned out that in their case, the sequence of events was actually caused by their own error.

How exactly do you go about resolving damaged items? Every time I contact them, I simply say 'I have received this item damaged, I would like to return for a refund' and then one or two days later I received a returns authorisation. Recently I accidentally ordered two copies of two different Steelbooks, Anchorman and Gremlins to be precise. I ordered and then realised I could get them a little cheaper with discounts so placed another order but I didn't know it was impossible to cancel orders for in stock items once they were placed. I returned the spares and whilst slow, they did refund a few days after I had posted them. Sure it isn't Amazon levels of service, but none of the horrors that are widely reported here.

It is a little bit strange. Zavvi seem to treat every customer completely differently. I have never been asked for photos for example or had any problems when returning items. I've never returned an item with tracking and yet none of my returns have gone missing. :confused:

The last item I sent back which was TLM steel had paint chips.
The process went
Take a photo
Wait
Chase them after 2 days to respond
Fill in a return form
Send back the item
Track the item through the courier
The tracking showed the item was delivered to Zavvi and they had signed for it
Wait
Chase them up as I had heard nothing after a couple more days.
Response was they had not received the item back
Wait
A couple more days and they had realised they had t back
2 weeks after first contact regards to the complaint a new TLM arrived.
Not good
 
Zavvi sending out random rewards discount codes (5 - 20 %) - just received email

Yep, just cashed in on 10% and re-ordered Frozen x 3, Thor 2 and Hunger Games: Catching Fire. :LOL:
