Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

Zavvi is experiencing a shortage of boxes.
First time I heard of such a thing happening. :rolleyes:

Well, I got one of my replacement orders today in the mail and it was in a freaking bubble mailer and surprise, surprise...... damaged! :angry: Why would they even bother to send something internationally in a flimsy bubble mailer? They better get those boxes soon otherwise they will be losing a lot of customers.

How should I go about contacting them this time? Last time they offered me a discount so I just bit it and order a different one hoping to have one not damaged but same result. Any advice? I do not want to go through the process of having to send pictures again only for them to offer me another discount....

Maybe because, as you are aware, they are out of boxes and that's all they have available? It's either that or not send them until they have boxes available. Either way people would moan.

For me, I wouldn't mind if they held back until they had the boxes. They should at least contact the customer for options. I wonder how many people have received damaged steels because of this temporary hick up? If I was Zavvi...I would rather have people moan about a shipment delay instead of having to deal with a bunch of damaged returns.

I've only ever had one Steelbook from them that was damaged & guess what it was in a jiffy envelope. I sent them emails & photos & bombarded them with messages until they gave me a refund & I ordered from Amazon.
I'm expecting a steel from them this week & if it's damaged will cancel my RUSH preorder.
It beggars belief that a company that sells so many steelbooks can run out of packaging.
 
That's an extremely lousy move on their part. There is simply no excuse for playing their customers like that.

Originally when Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 went live to order the release date was 10/02/2014
2 weeks after that they changed the release date to 20/01/2014


The release date change was over 2 months ago

This was known long time ago

The only release date change that was short notice was Toy Story that was meant to be 13/01/2014 and was changed to 20/01/2014
Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 both have had a release date of 20/01/2014 for over 2 months

Well I got Nightmare before Christmas and Se7en today...in double bubble envelope.
Nightmare before Christmas has a dent on the back and a bump on the spine and Se7en is a little bent as well. :angry:
It's not like they can replace Nightmare before Christmas... don't know what I'm going to do now...
 
Well it turns out they took the money for the 3 i wanted to cancel and despatched.

So the story goes:

Checked my banking app to see if they had took the money which they hadnt

cancelled them online

checked bank 20 mins later to see they had suddenly took the money and reverted the cancellations back to awaiting stock pick

tried a few times to cancel them but kept being reverted so i emailed about all 3

woke up the next morning, had 3 emails saying they are putting through the cancellations for me, all 3 still said awaiting stock pick

come 12pm, some 16 hours after first cancelling, all 3 had despatched!



Thanks a lot zavvi. Surely if its too late to cancel, then it should state that and the cancel button shouldnt be there to begin with. Taking the money 16 hours before despatch and only after ive cancelled them is ridiculous.

Now to wait for them, return them, wait some more as they havent arrived at their facility, wait some more, then refund, wait 5 working days for that to go through......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just received a Steelbook from Zavvi this morning in double jiffy envelope, fortunately it isn't damaged but am considering cancelling my "Rush" preorder as not happy that they seem to be out of boxes. If I were you I'd get a refund as there's no guarantee your replacements will be ok. Take photos of all the damage & email them to Zavvi & ask for refund. I'm sure you could get Nightmare before Xmas off eBay or from a HDN member. Saying that I just received a steel from an ebay seller this morning & it has paint chips under the j card. To be honest am starting to question if I want to continue collecting as it's not worth the stress.Have noticed recently that some people are getting out & selling their steels.

Box update 1/7/2014


As per Travis above, it seems Zavvi have NOT been listening to their valued customers concerns over inadequate packaging.

Yesterday and today I received steelbooks in a padded bag, inside another padded bag.

The one which arrived today has a buckled case.

Reported it, asked for a replacement, and told them in no uncertain terms what I thought of the packaging - like they'll listen!

Hope they buck their ideas up soon - don't fancy my copy of Aviator arrivng in this state, and no hope of a replacement!

they are not stopping boxes they are out of stock on them and having supply issues. read the OP at the bottom it states a box update.
Re the Box update,Supposedly they hope to have boxes by Tuesday that was on the 7/1/14
My order was despatched this Tuesday 14/1 still using jiffy envelopes.
Just to clarify the info was given out by Zavvi on the 7/1/14 so the Tuesday for new boxes would be 14/1/14 it's possible that my order was shipped before new boxes arrived so maybe things will be back to normal by the end of this week.

As we are all aware their system is not the best. Their right hand does not know what their left hand is doing. BUT if the cancel button was there it sounds to me like some underhand tactics were used to get these shipped anyway in the hope that you can't be bothered with the return. Most people though can be bothered to return unwanted items so again leaves them out of pocket as they will need to pay the carriage both ways. How long this can go on for I don't know but no business can keep this up for long.

By underhand tactics you mean dispatching pre-orders in time for delivery on release date as expected? Members who tried to cancel this were simply too late in requesting the cancellation.

Nonetheless - how the hell do you run out of boxes?

I know most companies run on a 'just enough' stock, or 'just in time' delivery service but either of those is supposed to monitor stock levels as a matter of course.

p.p.s. One of the things I DO like about Zavvi is getting most of my pre-orders BEFORE the official release date.
If anyone wants to cancel an item, they should bear in mind that they are actually on the ball in that regard.
