Current packaging is a cardboard mailer with the steelbook usually wrapped in either a layer of bubble wrap or foam

I now have confirmation that I can announce ... for all those worried about future packaging from Zavvi. My Play contact has been working with zavvi as well on this mission for better packaging. Between the 3 of us and the future comments from this community after its in place I'm sure it will be go over well.

1/19/2013 Member Nyvo tweeted Zaavi about packaging concerns. They said they may be looking into alternate packaging methods.

Very interesting, indeed. I too assumed Zavvi played more of a role in the design of the covers.

Sounds like this year will be quite spectacular. :thumbs:
 
I thought that decision was probably 50/50 (more or less) to be honest. I always gathered that it was the studios who had the final say on artwork though, as I'm sure it's probably a lot of hard work for Zavvi to convince them otherwise at times... I'm think Wreck has confirmed this before actually. Hopefully people will stop giving them so much stick now anyway, as they are just the retailer after all

Yeah I knew they both had a say in it but I wasn't sure how much input Zavvi did have. It looks like it is mostly down to the studio to provide quality artwork, as Zavvi only seem to have a small say in the artwork. I am hoping for more premium finishes and hopefully numbered editions in the future!

just got done talking to zavvi... what a piece of s*** company

this isn't the first time or second or even third time this has happened on my account.
i had three disney steels on pre-order, went into my account a few days ago to cancel (and yes this was before they shipped it out early) and 2 out of the 3 orders were gone. No order history, no canceled transaction, nothing. few days later i get charged, :wtf: and in talking to zavvi cs, they have no records of the transaction even occuring

Zavvi clearly does not care to respect their customer/buyer base. They release dumbo and lady a week early... Charge/dispatch ... And THEN announce they are matte and then change the release date on their site.

That's some serious BS right there. Straight up.

Yep they are VERY unprofessional, They knew damn fine that they will now loose orders if it's found to be matte.

I have two Alice in Wonderland's on order but I only want one. How is Zavvi with cancelling one item when you have two ordered? I'm afraid they are going to cancel both on me if I ask to cancel one.

Well Alice In Wonderland is back in stock, why don't you pre order another one and then, once the order is confirmed, cancel the other order. Or if you want to, Query the order, follow the instructions and cancel one of them. You can just tick the box of the item you want to cancel.

I have a 10% coupon code applied to the original order. I don't have a code now so I'll either keep or query the order and hope they don't cancel both.

I had to do a similar thing recently, it's best to follow the tried and tested method:

Find the order in your account section, click 'view' then click 'query'. Under the 'Tell us more' section, from the drop down menu select 'I have a problem with my order', then 'Other order problem'. You will then be presented with a text box. I would write something along the lines of 'Please cancel ONE copy of Alice in Wonderland and leave the order for ONE copy of Alice in Wonderland remaining'. It did the trick for me a few days ago when I trimmed my pre-orders to single copies :)

Sent them photos before of just the damage without full front photos before & had no problems.:wtf:

I truly believe the days of QUALITY Steelbooks are long gone. Scanavo, I believe are promoting these cheap knock offs and over committing themselves to get the business, and retailers like Zavvi just want to get as much coin in their cash registers as they can before the bubble bursts. I think this bubble is about to rupture. Whereas before the slow trickle was like a hand made custom car being unveiled, now it's like ****** little ford fiesta being pumped out complete with crappy paint jobs and questionable finishes. We are like that drug addict that lives in the run down house in the projects, waiting on our next Fix. We moan and complain about this "****" but we still want it. It's a disease that the retailers are feeding.

i dont know if it's been stated before, but zavvi has a new option on their enquiry site, now one can upload pictures of damaged items immediately, whereas before we had to wait for a first reply of them with asking for pictures.

i hope this will make their return shipping process a bit easier / faster.
a small step in the right direction.

I've done the same thing...that is, sending partial photos highlighting the damaged area (while also showing part of the steelbook to easily identify the specific title in question). From that, Zavvi issued a replacement to me on several occasions.

Sounds as though Zavvi may have modified their policy as they felt they were receiving a lot of queries for damaged steelbooks. And perhaps some people were abusing the replacement policy by sending images of damaged steelbooks that weren't necessarily of the specific item ordered from Zavvi.

Who knows...
 
I´ve been Zavvi free over a month and feeling great about it! If there is a Zavvi release I want I will wait and get it after release from our fantastic marketplace on this forum.
 
After many successful orders, I had my first missing order issue. Three steels shipped out on 9 Jan but only 2 showed up. I waited the 30 days and then contacted Zavvi through the messaging system on Monday. I got a response from them about investigating the matter with their courier. Then today i got a despatched email for the missing order. Fast and easy resolution, though maybe I speak too soon since I don't have it in hand yet, but I do like to see the effort is there at least.
 
I ordered the Die Hard 4.0 steel book from them and it hasn't turned up yet i placed a order for the Goonies steel book a week later and thats turned up wtf.

I have been charged for one of them and it hasn't shipped. In fact any proof of me ever having them on order is not apparent on my account. I was charged £20.19 through Paypal, a payment method that I had not even selected.

So to sum up, charged for something that will never ship to me, no proof on Zavvi's site that it has happened.

The proof that I can provide to Zavvi are my emails saying that I cancelled them, my bank statement that shows I was charged, and my Paypal statement also saying I was charged.

Any extra help with what I can do would be madly appreciated.

you need to contact paypal, open a dispute , have you checked your spam for a dispatch email? if it was shipped it should be in your zavvi order history!

Already spoken with Paypal, they say I need to contact Zavvi. No dispatch emails at all, only cancellation emails.
