the problem is when they show off the front, back and insides of one release, but not the next. its either poor/inconsistent promotion of their products, or a deliberate holding back on info because they dont have the confidence to share it.

ie, they share the ins and outs of the products they have faith in, and the others they have less faith in are deliberately left obscure...

in any case, one thing could solve this speculation- consistency in the way they promote their products.

remember this steelbook does weigh in at a hefty £22.99. that is beyond the average steelbook price, you would think they would at least let the customer see what their money is buying... rather than expect them to buy wearing a blindfold.

i also refuse to believe or accept that zavvi cant acquire images of the products it sells... especially its exclusives.

zavvi only have an online presence, customers rely on the info they give us (including product images) to make buying decisions. zavvi can't afford to be obscure or vague in the way they present their products. if having detailed product info is what the customer requires to make an informed buying decision, then it is in zavvi's interest to provide that info. it is the difference between making a sell and not making a sell.

as it is right now, many people simply dont buy, and instead wait for the products photo's turn up in internet forums, like this one, before making a decision to purchase or not.

its a pretty laughable situation, that could be remedied by zavvi simply making more of an effort.

Also people are forced to buy simply because of the limited runs and waiting for confirmation of images could mean losing out on a favourite film simply because they could be all gone by the time you commit to buy. I find the "limited run" unhelpful in that respect. Too many issues here that need to be resolved by Zavvi if they can be bothered listening.

been told the rest of 101 Dalmatians photos will be listed on the site shortly i have be told by zavvi

Well I was told by Zavvi via facebook all there new funko Pop! would be released on the 3rd. Nope. Now they say they will be up shortly.
I f***ing hate when they use that word 'shortly'. It's as good as saying we don't know when but they will be, maybe, someday...
Bunch o' damn monkeys running that place, I swear.
I digress.
In this instance when Zavvi said 'shortly' they must have meant:
'when they arrive with you. p.s you have to accept them as they are because we have a new returns feature that requires photo proof and doesn't allow you to return items on the principle of disliking the artwork even though this time around we were too inept to actually provide artwork before we sent the steelbooks out.'

Edit:
Don't get me wrong I'm excited to be getting 101 Dalmatians on steelbook. :D
it's just god damn zavvi god damn

I agree. Seriously this is not fair business practice.

Think about it. It's not right for Zavvi to do it like this.

Theres no excuse for the US ones either.

I am an international buyer from zavvi, making it unrealistic to do returns.

When we are constantly tricked and manipulated by zavvis super innaccurate "sold out" gimmicks combined with the fact that if i choose to cancel i will loose any discount i might have gotten... Well it starts to feel like the most loyal snd supportive customers are given the biggest shaft .

Are we supposed to csncel during preorder ... Hope its not truly sold out... Wait for pics to surface... Rebuy at full retail and get the steelbook weeks after everyone else. Im not trying to be negative, but how is this good customer service. I have 2 101 Ds enroute to me. Back cover, inside, finish a total mystery. My complaint is very valid.

To be fair, some of your complaints are valid.

Their customer service is often appalling, and their cancellations and returns policy a nightmare. I'm certainly not keen on their 'sold out' tactics or their prices (some could be the studios but certainly not all).

However, you bought the 101 Dalmatians steelbook based on the information presented to you. If you're unhappy with the image on the back (whatever it ends up being), I'm afraid that's too bad. Hey, I'm in the same position. I'm hoping for the best but, well, you know Disney's lacking designs.

Before Play.com came along, it was very rare to be given a preview of anything other than the front cover, nevermind the finish or embossing details. At the end of the day, if you're not comfortable buying something where you can't see the full product, that is fine but don't imply that there is something wrong with those who are willing to take the risk.

I never mentioned anything about play and never said there was anything wrong with anybody.

Erm no one is forced to buy anything. This is exactly what I was saying about gullible. You do not have to buy these things honestly you don't.

It's actually illegal as they are being sold in the UK they are still governed by the DSR and therefore any item bought online can be returned even if you just don't like it.

mate... you're not forced to buy anything. If you're getting so worked up about it maybe this isn't the hobby for you

You said collectors were gullible, which sounds like an insult to me.

Zavvi would never refuse to accept a return of an unwanted item. Expecting them to cover the return postage is another matter.

I've just noticed that Zavvi wiped off Brazil from its international delivery list. Although I was not ordering directly from them anymore, many fellow collectors from here were.

Feel sorry but this cannot be avoided unless postal services in the South America region improves.

Same with eBay.co.uk where many sellers wouldn't ship to South American countries due to long delivery time and possible item not arrived claims.

Yeah, it looks like we haven't got official note from them, but I think it has happened before. Our post services need improvement asap, most of the claims are due to packages taking too long to arrive. Not only ebay UK, but also US has sellers refusing to ship to us because of that. Total mess.

They also don't send to Indonesia which affects a few here, no reason why either, poor sods :(

If any of you affected need any help PM me and I'll see what i can do.

Thanks, David!

Well my friends, Israel has been officiall scratched off from the international shipping list. I've sent them an email. I'm very afraid from what's going on behind the scene there.

"I was suddenly surprised while attempting to create a new pre order of other steelbooks I'm interested in, I couldn't find "Israel" anywhere on your list.

May I ask what happened with it?
What may be the reason for cancelling Israel?
What will happen with the future pre ordered stuff I have? Are they going to be delivered or cancelled?

I'm very afraid from what is going to happen!
Are there more countries that have been cancelled from the site?

Thank you for your time and dealing with me for giving me the opportunity of getting your unique and limited releases.

I hope that this is not happening over political issues that we obsolutely have no control over them."

Hope for a quick respond :(

Maybe there was a considerably high rate of 'Item not arrived' claims.

Next shocker will be charging the correct amount for shipping overseas. :dunno:

So it seems. A fellow brazlian send them an email asking the reasons behind that, and he got this reply:

Thank you for your message regarding shipping to Brazil.

As a result of continuing issues with delivery to selected countries, we are temporarily removing them from the list of destinations that we are able to ship to.

We are currently reviewing delivery options within these countries with the view to shipping there again. We will notify you as soon as we have more information.

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

On a side note: the shipping to Brazil is whooping 15 GBP. Although they give you a tracking number, it is impossible to track the package. If you ask them about it, they dodge. Changing to a new shipping method would increase cost and may make collectors not want to buy directly from them anymore due to high cost. And I don't know why the hell this is so expensive. I mean, I have taken part in David's GBs and was able to get 2 SBs shipped in a sturdy box for 12 GBP or so. And they arrived in 2 weeks most of the times!

Not sure what the outcome of this will be, I just hope they get a good and reasonable solution for everyone. Not only for us brazilians, but also for all the fellow collectors from other countries as well.

Shipping by Registered post (International Signed-For) to Brazil works out to about 12~13 GBP if weight is between 251 ~ 500 grams. Regarding tracking, you should be able to track in your country's postal website provided they scan the barcode in their system. Otherwise it will only show as passed to Brazil for delivery.

Btw, Did you try via Zavvi.es or other Zavvi domains?

To be fair some countries (not going to mention names) are infamous for theft in the post (even recorded delivery) and I had personal experience of one particular country where theft was so bad I was losing 80% of my packages going there. I just had to stop delivering there.
