Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Multiplayer Beta Details

Ubisoft has revealed more details about the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood multiplayer beta that begins on October 4 exclusively for PlayStation 3 owners who pre-order the game before September 25. Sadly, one of those details isn’t that the beta will be available to everyone, but so it goes.

It was previously announced that the beta would include nine characters to choose from, two modes, and support for up to eight players. But now we know what players can expect when they jump into the Wanted and Alliance modes:

Wanted - Adversarial mode: From six to eight players

  • Objective: Obtain the highest possible score by killing assigned targets.
  • Game session: 1 round of 10 minutes
  • In this game mode, players have 10 minutes to reach the higher score by assassinating other players. A target is assigned by the system and players can only kill that specific target. Interaction with the other players is not permitted unless they are either a target or a pursuer. If players kill innocents they will trigger an “open conflict”. The position of the player will be revealed to their target and then will have the ability to escape or to cancel the contract. If the target has identified one of his pursuers, he can stun him to cancel the contract and score points.

Alliance - Cooperative mode: Three teams of two players

  • Objective: Obtain the highest possible score with your teammate by killing the assigned team. The teammates share the same character.
  • Game session: 2 rounds of 4 minutes
  • At the beginning of the round, a target team is assigned to each of the three teams. Those targets will not change for the entire round. During the round, players can switch between their two targets at anytime. Players will score by killing targets or escaping or stunning pursuers, but in addition, are rewarded by helping their teammate or performing cooperative actions like multiple kills in a row. At the end of the first round, all players will respawn and a new target is assigned to each team. The game session ends at the end of the second round.

The modes will be playable across two maps (Rome and Castle Gandolfo), but the community will be able to unlock a third map, Siena, as well.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - See a Leonardo Mission Walkthrough

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has Ezio reuniting with old friend Leonardo DaVinci, who has been forced into building war machines for the Borgia. In this new gameplay trailer, we see the two meeting, as Ezio is looking to infiltrate a Borgia compound and destroy blueprints for a potentially devastating new contraption.

Complete with super-serious voice-over, the walkthrough video shows Ezio stealthily skulking upon the rooftops, performing aerial assassinations, using new poisoned projectiles and getting stuck into a fight using the more aggressive fighting system. Oh, and then he escapes in a wooden tank...

Ezio also has new armours that he'll be able to buy and piece together, much like the armour ensembles you could purchase in ACII and store at your villa. Looks like Ubisoft is really pulling out all the stops for this one.

Feast your eyes on the video (added to the OP) and put a pin in November 19th, 2010. It's the date Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood drops.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Soundtrack Available From iTunes In November

Composer Jesper Kyd scooped a whole host of awards for his Assassin's Creed II score, so it's hardly surprising that he's returned to create the Renaissance-inspired soundtrack for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Apparently, the music will be somewhat darker than before, to represent the Borgia's oppressive influence over Rome, where the game takes place.

"Researching the history of the Borgia Family it became clear early on that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood would require a very dark score in order to match the Borgia's aspirations to become the rulers of Italy. The music reflects the compelling story of Ezio as a Master Assassin going up against the Borgias," said Kyd.

You'll be able to download Kyd's original music soundtrack for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood from iTunes on the same date as the game's US release on November 16th. The game will be coming to Europe on November 19th.

Ubisoft announces free, PS3-exclusive DLC for AC: Brotherhood

Ubisoft partnered with the PlayStation.Blog today to reveal that when Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood launches on November 16, a free, PS3-exclusive downloadable content pack entitled Copernicus Conspiracy will simultaneously launch on the PlayStation Network.

The downloadable content involves Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who directs Ezio towards additional courier, assassination, and protection missions in an effort to dispel the conspiracy against his revolutionary heliocentric philosophy. What an ignoramus, that Copernicus—everyone knows the sun rotates around the earth, and not the other way around.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Midnight Openings And a Week Of Free-To-Play MP Announced

acb_launch.jpg

Ubisoft is running free-to-play multiplayer events for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood at major HMV Gamerbase stores across the UK, from Monday, November 15th, giving you the chance to sharpen your online assassination skills during the week, ahead of the game's UK launch on November 19th.

What's more, on November 18th, there'll be single-player sessions from 9pm until the game's launch at midnight, where you can get your hands on the story driven portion of the game a few hours before the release. Bring along your memory cards, as you'll be able to then purchase the game and take your single-player progress away with you.

The Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood midnight opening event will be taking place at Gamerbase locations at HMV at the London Trocadero, Glasgow, Manchester and Reading, where there will also be some prizes up for grabs.

Ubisoft says it will "do better" with AC: Brotherhood DLC

Ubisoft Montreal has pledged to deliver a better post-launch DLC effort for stellar stealth outing Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood in comparison to its predecessor.

Chatting with the folks at CVG, producer Vincent Pontbriand conceded that the company’s efforts with Assassin’s Creed II DLC resulted in many fans feeling “cheated,” and moved to reassure gamers that it aims to improve things with Brotherhood.

"We wish to [do better]. I think people felt cheated at the impression that there was stuff that didn't make it into the game. It's frustrating since I can understand that view but it wasn't our intentions at all,” he commented.

"We want to give more of the game so we have plans for post-launch DLC. It's a mix between maintaining shelf life," he continued, stating that extending the game’s life cycle "is going to be easier with multiplayer."

"It's obvious what you can do with that. It's harder to expand it story wise in terms of single-player because otherwise you never have closure, you have to re-open doors if you know what I mean. It's a calculated risk.

"Then on my side people want to go on vacation so I have to manage who gets to go, who gets to stay and work on that."

Ubisoft head honcho Yves Guillemot confirmed earlier this week that ‘something around Assassin’s [Creed]’ would be released in 2011, though whether or not this pertains to Brotherhood DLC remains to be seen.

Well the 1st one should never be thought of/compared lol. It was horrible. But the 2nd one was really good. I especially like the puzzles you do when you find certain "hidden" objects. This one picks up right where 2 left off and also fills in a lil bit, but If you haven't played 2, I highly suggest it before playing this one. I haven't come across the new additions yet. Except one. Some places will have a weight/pulley thing and you can use that to get to the top of a building faster. Haven't tried MP yet either. SP is the only reason why I bought this game. The city of Rome looks huge and even the cities/maps on the last one were big.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Animus Project 1.0 DLC Out Now

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood now has a nice little expansion available for its multiplayer mode, with the Animus Project 1.0 Update DLC introducing a new map and a new mode in Advanced Alliance Mode.

Advanced Alliance Mode makes team-based co-op Alliance matches more challenging with less precision displayed on your compass making target identification and engagement tougher than usual. The new map meanwhile, is Mont Saint-Michel on the rocky tidal island of Normandy in France, with it's narrow, winding streets and high bell tower.

That's the Animus Project 1.0 Update, which you can grab from the PlayStation Network right now, but then there's the Animus Project 2.0 Update, which is due sometime in January 2011 featuring another new map and multiplayer mode, which will also be offered for free.

Update 2.0 will add the new Chest Capture Multiplayer Mode, which pits two teams of three players partnered with fellow Templars to defend or capture Chests in a battle for the highest score. The new Templar Score feature will also be introduced to reward the efforts of Abstergo recruits. Add to that the new Pienza Map with plenty of scope for free-running acrobatics and numerous places for predators and targets to blend and disappear, and the Animus Project 2.0 Upgrade is worth getting excited about.
