The first legal uncut German edition of Sam Raimi's classic ever since its banning in Germany in July 1984 is coming from Nameless Media in collaboration with Sony Pictures.

The artwork is a replication of the original German VHS cassette released in 1984.

And here be photos!

THE EVIL DEAD
Limited Vintage Edition

(Nameless-Version)

The packaging is quite thick, it's even thicker than the VHS cassette from 1984 upon which the design was based.

Removing the shrinkwrap. There is a 1/4 slip with the "Limited Vintage Edition" text and the technical part. Looks quite seamless on the front.

However, it does cut off the spine inscription.

A rather good idea: a VHS cassette as a digipak design!

However, the cassette design doesn't cover the entire surface of the digipak. So the rest is black.

And the spine. Strangely, the spines of VHS cassettes usually were labeled 180° as compared to here.

There is a slot for the booklet.

There aren't too many artworks for The Evil Dead. Most of them can be seen here.

As well as on the digipak trays.

However, the disc labels are rather similar.

Still, the booklet looks nice and informative.

The thick extra booklet with the censorship history of the film in Germany. Mind ye, the film got forbidden in Germany in 1984 and was rehabilitated only 2016. The booklet contains many (rather dull) court protocols and as such is designed in a rather dull case file design.

Is there a comprehensive list of extras for this?
