From IMDB:
From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team–the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
With: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Crosses $700 Million at the Global Box Office! :woot: :notworthy:

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=124095

Following its record-setting debut last weekend in China, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy surpassed $700 million yesterday, with $326.7 million domestically and $378.4 million internationally for a global total of $705.1 million. This is the third Walt Disney Studios release of 2014 to reach the $700 million mark and the sixth in the last 18 months.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe film to pass $700 million after Marvel’s The Avengers, Iron Man 3 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It’s the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to do so while also being the first in a series and without featuring major characters from previous Marvel films.

As per CBM:
GOTG is now 2014 #2 at Box Office. Marvel did it again!!!
This weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy become the second highest grossing movie of 2014 at the worldwide box office with over $765.1 million in total so far. It took that position from Disney's Maleficent starring Angeline Jolie, and has easily surpassed the hauls of better known comic book movie franchises like X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Still #1? Transformers: Age of Extinction, a movie it's hard to imagine being topped this year thanks to the $1.087 billion the Michael Bay helmed release has so far grossed.

With $329.3 million at the domestic box office, Guardians of the Galaxy is still easily the highest grossing movie of the year, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier in second place with $259.7 million. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits on May 5th, 2017.

So.. let's resume:
