Apple’s free content cloud service, iCloud, will launch Oct. 12, allowing iTunes users to download previously purchased movies and TV shows to other devices at no additional charge.
“iCloud is the easiest way to manage your content, because iCloud does it all for you and goes far beyond anything available today,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Internet software and services. “You don’t have to think about syncing your devices, because it happens automatically, and it is free.”
The cloud service also allows for cloud-based distribution of music, photos, documents, book purchases and applications.
Also Oct. 4 Apple unveiled new iPod Touch ($199) and iPod Nano ($129) models, as well as the iPhone 4S, which offers 1080p resolution video recording and a new camera. It will be available Oct. 14, starting at $199.
