A little fun for long-time or new collectors, alike :oohyeah:

In considering the year, feel free to include DVD Steelbooks in your answer.

Have fun! :scat:

jan 2013 i never owned a steelbook, i bought a 3D tv and wanted a copy of avatar, i found the german lenticular version steelbook by accident while looking for avatar 3d blu ray and now im hooked.

Gotta love how that happens. Early 2012; For me it was looking for a better collection of Harry potter than the lame box set from best buy. Found the FS set with shelf and fell in love.

Most've been last year.

I bought a steelbook now and then in 2011, but it was in the fourth quarter of 2012 I really started getting into collecting!

2011 for me.... Blockbuster was closing down in my City and they had a few steelbooks there that were reduced by 50%... now I am at 200+ steelbooks... crazy!

2011 - Scarface from Best Buy was my 1st SteelBook. Started collecting blu's back in 2008 when I got my 1st PS3 (Iron Man and Crystal Skull were my first orders from Amazon :D) and I don't know why it took me so long to pick up on SteelBooks.

I kick myself when I think of all the steels I've missed from BBY (Disney in particular) :hilarious:

The First Steelbook I bought was Immortals and loved the look and feel of the package. I started getting rid of my normal Blu-Rays and replacing my collection with Steelbooks, Digibooks, and special Edition packaging after joining this lovely Forum!

My story

After i bought my Sony TV + Pioneer Htib set on July 10th,2011, my 1st blu ray movie (+ my 1st steelbook) is Avatar Extended Edition local version. This steel i bought on July 14th, 2011 for MYR150 (it's PRICEY for me EEK! )
After that, i try collect standard amaray with slipcovers from Amazon site. JULY 2012 i am join HDN. Now i try the best to collect some steels from whole world. I LOVE HDN

Towards the end of the 2012, I became fascinated with the whole steelbook format! King Kong (Italian DVD Steelbook) was the 1st one I bought. At the beginning of this year is when I went crazy buying steelbooks! So far I own 22 and have 7 pre-ordered from Zavvi and 4 on the way! :scat: .... yup, the wife has another reason to be pissed off at me, besides my King Kong Collection :hilarious:

Been collecting Steelbooks since DVD Steelbooks were made, can't even remember what my first was and when...might have been 'The Departed' DVD steel in 2006 but that was way too long for me to remember and I've long since gotten ride of my G1 DVD steels

Continued on with steels when Blu-ray came out, but didn't really go outside of Futureshop until I joined HDN and realized there were steelbooks outside of Canada haha

2010 was when I started collecting. I think approximately twenty UK Blu-ray Steelbooks had been released in total when I grabbed my first one. How quickly things have changed :hilarious:

Started in early 2008 (bought I Am Legend in-store future shop on release day and got hooked) and enjoyed it until late 2011 and then quit in early 2013.

I started collecting this year. The First Steelbook I bought was Ghostbusters and loved the look and feel of the package. I started getting rid of my normal Blu-Rays and now I am replacing my collection with Steelbooks. This is so addictive.:D

My history is 3 months old. Already more than 100 titles at the moment. But I slowed down. Not buying Zavvi releases anymore. For a while just Kimchi and Blfuans releases as collection, and very tempting titles if any released.

It would be cool if we could add this info to our profiles and maybe display it next to our post count etc. when viewing threads :)
