Having just checked out the CORALINE steelbook I'm thinking that the artwork in the OP for KUBO is just fine and with the swirly circular imagery will at least go reasonably well with another of the steelbooks in the collection . . .

Twiddling my thumbs waiting for a CORALINE steelbook to be released in my territory.

I really want a steel for this, but I'm not sure about that artwork... it looks like some really rough/unfinished concept art.

I have to completely disagree about the rough/unfinished part. It reminds me of Japanese style paintings. Given the film was inspired by Japanese folktales, I think it pays perfect homage. If you want poster artwork, then that is understandable. Just my two cents. :)

Your two cents is more than welcome and respected, of course. :)

You make a very good point! I don't necessarily dislike the art itself, but it's not what I'd want on a steelbook... I'm definitely more on a poster art kinda guy. :p

Some colour inside undeniably better idea than just B&W . . . of course doesn't matter that the earthy tones of the interior are at odds with the sea tones of the exterior.

Hopefully the inside lack of colour is not final and just a representation of the artwork with the colour - greens/browns etc. - added during manufacture . . .

This colour scheme for the interior art is probably the best choice if a reasonable match ro the exterior is important:-

I'm fine with the steelbook, but this is a movie that screams for a (double!) lenticular slipcover. With Black Barons taking the upcoming Hitchcock steels, I wonder if there's any possibility...?
