The 11th annual Rose City Comic Con, Portland’s premier pop-culture event, will unite over 50,000 fans of comic books, art, tabletop and video gaming, television and film, show-stopping cosplay, and more at the Oregon Convention Center from Friday, September 22 through Sunday, September 24, 2023. Presented by LeftField Media, the iconic three-day convention will give fans of all ages the rare opportunity to meet top tier comic book creators; A-list celebrities, including Karen Gillan, Jodie Whittaker, Felicia Day, and the entire cast of Critical Role; and enjoy hundreds of hours of programming including exclusive expert-led panels, tabletop and video gaming, cosplay meetups, and more.


Programming favorites slated to return include Rose City Jr., a feature specifically designed for the next generation of fans—complete with an action-packed Movement Zone, creative art workshops, and exciting hands-on activations. Destination Cosplay is also back with the annual cosplay competition. Also returning is the Creator Pro track, perfect for fans looking to break into the comics industry.
This year, the Rose City Comic Con Book Fair is proud to partner with the world’s largest independent bookstore and a local staple, Powell’s Books. Book Fair allows literature lovers to purchase books, get them signed, discover up-and-coming writers, and enjoy special panels from a variety of esteemed authors.
Gamers will have plenty to geek out about all weekend. Rose City is thrilled to welcome Portland Retro Gaming Expo and Ground Kontrol back to the video gaming area. The show floor will be filled with tried and true arcade favorites and nostalgic games from every era. Tabletop gaming is also back and better than ever! GameStorm, Portland’s longest running gaming convention, will be providing an incredible library of board games, along with role playing games for fans to embark on adventurous quests.
Fans can keep the fun going with Dark Horse Comics, creators Kelly Sue DeConnick and Gene Ha, and more for a special Drink and Draw (21+) afterparty on Friday, September 22 at 8:00 pm at Spirit of ‘77, 500 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Portland, OR. Tickets are available to purchase here.

Leftfield Media is proud to announce that veteran actress Zoe Saldana will be attending this year’s 11th annual Rose City Comic Con, in partnership with ACE Universe, and will be making appearances on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24. Saldana is the star of multiple, record-setting sci-fi blockbusters and multi-billion dollar fantasy franchises. She also holds the record as the only actor to star in the top three grossing films of all time.

This marks Saldana’s first time in four years that she will be returning to the Pacific Northwest. Her previous rare comic con appearances include Brazil Comic Con in 2022, ACE Comic Con in 2019, and San Diego Comic Con in 2016.

As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue, Leftfield Media remains committed to abiding by strike guidelines and is working with SAG-AFTRA to ensure they are in compliance. All guests, panels, programming, and bookings will fully conform with the requirements established by the union for regional conventions.

Star Wars Fan Experience
The Star Wars Fan Experience features over 3,000 square feet of pure Star Wars magic in Destination Cosplay. Located in B113-116, Star Wars Fan Clubs transports guests to a galaxy far, far away. The experience includes a Mandalorian throne, jail cell and forge set, an X-Wing cockpit, and a behind the scenes look at the incredible props and costumes!
Weird Stage
An exciting, unusual, brand-new experience awaits guests at the Weird Stage! Located in the Oregon Ballroom (203-204) and next to the VooDoo Ranger Beer Garden, the stage is an explosion of fandom focused trivia and quirky content that is uniquely Portland. Guests are invited to celebrate all things weird, while also enjoying pints from the beer garden and lawn games like corn hole and horseshoes. Highlights include:

Calling all aspiring pop culture professionals! Unlock your potential and dive into the world of comics with the Creator Pro track at Rose City Comic Con. Fans will have the opportunity to have a Portfolio Review conducted by Editors from Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics (applications are now closed), as a way to kick start their career in the world of comics. Immerse yourself in a lineup of engaging events designed to help you break into the business of comics. Guests can head to Room E145-146 for Creator Pro panels throughout the weekend. Rose City Jr
Rose City Jr provides hours of fun with entertaining and educational programs for families, including interactive workshops with characters from hit shows, costume parades, an entire stage dedicated to kids activities and more.

• Kids Cosplay Parade - (Saturday and Sunday - 12:00PM, Hall E) Kids will have the chance to strut their stuff and show off over-the-top outfits in not just one but two costume parades inside Rose City Jr. Entry is limited to the first 30 registrants. All kids will receive a keepsake for participating.
• The Force Experience - (Hall E) The Jedi of Saber Guild Felucia Temple are looking for younglings to train in the ways of the force! Come see the Jedi demonstration of force and saber handling, followed by a hands-on training class. Foam training lightsabers will be provided for use during instruction. Please note that this event has a capacity of 30 children and requires a safety waiver to be signed.
