A job listing for a position to join God of War studio Sony Santa Monica found on Gamasutra, suggests that the developer could be looking to take Kratos and friends into the online space. Either that or the studio is looking to kickstart a new IP with a strong online component.

Under the list of responsibilities for the position of Senior Online Programmer is the "designing and implementing (of) systems and tools to support networking needs (such as in-game communication, client-server, match-making, leaderboards)," which is either a hint that God of War Online is the next project for Sony Santa Monica or the studio is taking an existing Sony Franchise online or even perhaps embarking upon a new IP.

Either way, Sony Santa Monica is planning something and whether it'll be an Anarchy Reigns-style online brawler starring Kratos and the menagerie of faces from Greek mythology he's bumped into and slaughtered, as speculated by Edge Online, remains to be seen.

Rumor: God of War 4 due September 2012

UK publication PSM3’s claiming that God of War 4 is indeed in the works and will be released in September 2012.

"PSM3 has heard from another source that God of War 4 is coming, and will hit in September 2012," the magazine writes.

"Our source works closely with the God of War universe, and let slip he'd be working on a related project at the same time."

Recent rumblings pointing to a fourth instalment in chrome dome Kratos’ highly lauded adventure series popped up online last month in the form of an animator's CV mentioning a “God of War 4 cinematic test.”

These reports were later quashed however, with the chap in question moving to assure folk that the listing was unrelated to the multi-million dollar selling Sony franchise.

OPM UK says God of War 4 will feature multiplayer

Fresh gossip pertaining to the fourth numbered entry in the God of War franchise has surfaced via the pages of the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine.

The publication claims that God of War 4 is currently in development and will apparently feature some form of multiplayer component to boot: "Kratos is on his way back, with his next adventure set to feature multiplayer,” the mag writes (via CVG).

The rumors follow hot on the heels of previous God of War 4 murmurs from PSM3, in addition to last week’s rumblings stating that developer SCE Santa Monica Studio is beavering away on two new PlayStation 3-exclusives.

Santa Monica Studios has previously said that although 2010’s God of War 3 pulled the curtains down on a trilogy, the company assured it’s “not the end” for the celebrated actioner.

hoping for either a re-release of the 2 PSP titles on PS3 or a prequel showing the period of time that

trained you,
and made / tricked you into killing your family
