From IMDB:

Old info:
The fact that there will be another Batman film in Christopher Nolan’s presumptive trilogy is assumed by just about everyone, despite the fact that there has been no formal announcement of the film. But in the runup to the release of Nolan’s Inception, which opens on July 16, there is already some talk about what the next Batman film might look like.

Wally Pfister is the cinematographer responsible for all of Christopher Nolan’s features from Memento on, and his photography was one of the things I liked best about The Dark Knight. He captured Chicago-as-Gotham with a simplicity and clarity that was very uncharacteristic of most superhero films. Now he’s talking about possibilities for the third film, including the option of 3D. Hint: don’t expect Batman 3D.

Cinematical spoke to Pfister when the Dallas Film Society presented him with the Star Award for accomplishments in cinematography. The site promises a full interview in which Pfister explains the “mutual disinterest” he and Christopher Nolan have for 3D. But they do quote him saying,
What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting…Brad Bird was [saying] ‘you’ve got to shoot the whole thing in IMAX!’ I was like, yeah, I’ve talked to Chris about that.

There’s also another comment, which seems to refer to shooting more of this upcoming film in IMAX:

But I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3-D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around.

AICN, meanwhile, got a few more of Pfister’s comments from a tipster. Both the cinematographer and Nolan are disinterested in digital cinematography and very much prefer to shoot on film. That’s the root of their disinterest in 3D, which Pfister said is “great for like amusement park rides like the ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’ ride at Disneyland.” Pfister also called 3D a distraction and not realistic.

The appeal of IMAX and the disinterest in 3D both come from that love of shooting on film. While 3D lacks realism, shooting in IMAX has huge latitude, and captures incredible detail. The downside to IMAX is that the cameras are bulky and loud, and the format is expensive.

FYI, Batman on Film is saying that Warner Bros. will officially announce the third Batman film in July. Which isn’t that much of a deductive leap, as Nolan hasn’t been interested in talking about Batman while he finishes Inception, and that movie is released in July. Plus, there’s that little Comic Con gathering in San Diego. So expect more news in July.

Caught it on Saturday morning and wasn't disappointed in the least. Definately, lived up to my expectations. Great flick and a very fitting end to an excellent trilogy:scat:

I seem to be the only one around who hasn't watched the film yet. :hilarious:
Just can't seem to get time off and to top it off, I unknowingly spoiled the ending for myself.

Didn't notice this thread but saw the film at an advance screening last Wednesday on IMAX....left the cinema speechless...AWESOME movie and one of the best trilogies ever..definitely going to see this again :scat:

I haven't watched the movie as yet (going on Saturday, 28 July) and I can't wait for the Blu-ray, especially for the sequences filmed in IMAX. Bring it on!

You guys think with this new entry, the academy will still pass it on giving it an Oscar?

If you are asking about Best Picture, I think the precedent set by LOTR-ROTK gives this new entry a very good chance of winning. Bluprint and toddly6666 have already listed the various possible categories for Oscars which I love to see TDKR get some!

I'd love Nolan to get Best Director at least. Would also love at least a nom for best picture too, last time I agreed with the best picture winner was back in '03 with LotR.

Just watched this. Absolutely loved it. Lived up to my expectations in every way.

Tom Hardy as Bane was great. That voice is up there with Darth Vader

I agree...and don't forget Hans Zimmer for Best Musical Score, Lee Smith for Film Editing, and Wally Pfister for Cinematography.

Lee Smith is the unsung hero in this! So much footage to edit but it came out flawless and the reason the film felt so well paced! Hat's off to Hans also! :scat:

Andy, I highly recommend driving that distance to watch this in IMAX. And also because like mll said, you cannot not go because of the action of a knucklehead moron.

From CBM:
The Denver Post reports that Christian Bale has visited the victims of Thursday night's shooting at the Medical Center of Aurora in Colorado. This was confirmed by an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications. "Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers." While petitions were started to get the actor to do this (some rather tastelessly suggesting that he appear in full costume as Batman), the fact he has done so of his own accord and without any photo opportunities is a VERY cool move on the actors part. Hospital personnel have apparently been overheard saying he was talking to patients. Earlier this week, Bale released a statement expressing his sympathies to those affected by the tragedy. "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."

Bale is THE man of the situation!

Well he just earned the right to yell at as many lighting crew members on any movie for the rest of his life. Super classy move.

If only Anne Hathaway would show up as well  they would have to have nurses on standby for broken hearts :D

If you hadn't guessed she is in my top 5 :naughty: even before Batman

lol yeah I hear you. A radio show here in LA once was talking about it and then Bale himself called the station to apologize to everyone to the disbelief of the radio hosts lol

Until today they still think the movie guy at the station somehow faked it lol

I knew he would do it! Way to go Christian! He is INDEED THE MAN!

[Slightly OT but important] This is in line with what the actors and crew said about Bale while on the set of "The Flowers of War." He showed up WITHOUT a manager, interpreter or an entourage to film the biggest movie ever to be made in China about a very difficult event.
