Hans Zimmer all the way. Shame he lost this year at Oscars and Globes - he definitely stepped up his game with the Interstellar score.

The musical score special feature about Zimmer's collaboration with Nolan on the Blu-ray edition is simply one of the best insights into Han's musical creative energy and inspiration. I mean, the man came up with the main theme of Interstellar without even knowing what the movie is all about. That to me is pure genius!

VANGELIS PAPATHANASSIOU. A genius.
Patrick Doyle. The score for DEAD AGAIN, HENRY V, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING are awesome.
But Ennio Morricone is the king. For his diversity and genius.
John Williams (and other populist "top 40" composers) can be good- but he is to film composing what the Ramones are to music. Great, but utterly formula and repetitive.
Morricone was out there. It's a shame that his more esoteric scores aren't more well known.

Indeed he is. I watched that special feature five times already. His collaboration with Nolan works really well for both. Also liked his work on the two Sherlock Holmes films. Cant get enough of his scores and I keep at least five of them in my portable at all times :)

John Williams - the justified legend among composers. Remarkable scores. Various classics like Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Jaws etc. speak for themselves.
Joe Hisaishi - My all time favourite. His scores in Miyazakis films were instrumental in constructing those beautiful films. Unforgettable tracks, an extremely emotional composer.
Clint Mansell - Brilliant too. It's always somehow funny to hear his composition "Lux Aeterna" from Requiem for a Dream used in who knows where...
I'll also mention John Barry, Wojciech Kilar, Ennio Morricone and Bernard Herrman.
