I don't want to sound too bitchy, but this is heading in a very silly direction.

Now I know that everyone has work/commitments at different times on different days, but smack in the middle of a Monday? I'm sure that I am not in an unsubstantial group of people who essentially got no chance at securing what is a very limited release.

I've always been one to give Zavvi the benefit of the doubt, but this release strategy is disappointing, to say the least. For whatever good it will do, I'll also be sending them an email directly.

So when is a good time? If it went live at 6pm anyone that works in a bar, drives a taxi etc will be at work. Point being, no matter what time it goes live someone in the world will be at work.

I don't think you sound bitchy at all, there will always be people that miss it at any time of the day, different time zones, night shifts etc, what zavvi could of done is have a set live date and time then those who will be working or asleep can ask others to purchase for them and set alarms etc, i think that would be fair and helpful to all.
Sorry you missed this, hope you grab one if there are cancellation for over ordering.

Don't forget that Zavvi is in the UK, from where I am on the far west coast of Canada that makes the UK 9 hours ahead, making it around 6pm when it went live in the UK. It does suck for us in North America as most of us are at work, on the road or whatever, but is dinner time in the UK.

It went live at 12 midday here in the UK, approx 6 hours ago. Which would have made it available from BC at 05:00.

It went live when most uk ninjas are at work/ college (like myself) and most other euopean ninjas feel sorry for all you guys in the us and canada who were sleeping!

I admitted as much in my original post, and for what it's worth I don't think a different time is the solution. I don't have the inclination for a battle; I wanted to express my disappointment in this case, as is my prerogative as a member here.

That is exactly the solution I would hope for. Nor do I think that it's an unreasonable ask. I too hope I can grab one later, at least sometimes with the cancellations we get a heads up from db!

To give zavvi some credit, they know how to make steels sell out. I have this and Mars attacks preordered when I would probably not have done so if they were 4000. I have never seen either film and if they had 4k for sale I could be pretty sure that there would be a price drop in the future. However, at 2k they will obviously sell out so I need to order it to be sure I will get the film as a steel.

I just hope that if and when they release the good Star Trek films that that do 4ks worth, as I would be so annoyed if it sold out and I couldn't get a copy!

Sorry if I misunderstood, your original post did state that you were unhappy that it went live in the middle of a monday.

Let's be honest it was a crafty one I & many others thought it would go live yesterday or Saturday but nothing. I only stumbled upon it by checking my emails.
Zavvi sent me the email for V for Vendetta after it had sold out.
I think if they'd said going live Monday 12.00 lunch time at least you could get someone to order for you.
Zavvi are there to make money & with these ultra limited releases they are doing that & doing it Quickly

agreed i don't see why zavvi can't do all pre-orders at weekend e.g. saturday or sunday, when most people are not at work. i know you won't please everyone all the time this is to be expected, but as to the people on there high horses (same old people saying whats the problem?).

some of us have to work, also some of us cannot use a computer at work or a mobile phone at my place thats called a sure way to get the sack, i have seen it happen to 2-3 people they don't work there anymore.

Its alright for the ones moaning saying i don't see the problem, you are not the ones missing out but are the ones preaching. I suggest you look a little more inward before offering such wonderful free helpful advice again.

This is still an issue that needs addressing and would have hoped by now some of the mods would have gone and asked zavvi the question with there contacts could they release at the weekends especially with the 1000-2000 runs as some of these are selling out in 3 hours its just getting impossiable to collect some of these steelbooks makes people think whats the bloody point, Its not too much to ask to have a reasonable chance such as weekend releasing is it giving ALL a fair chance?
I wonder how many people will jack it in if it carrys on like this, i sure a few will its not good the way its going at the moment.

basil :(

If everyone ordered one copy I'm sure most people who wanted one would get one

Judging by this thread it seems like most people didn't get one, which is a shame.

For some of the other comments, it's easy to say that 'some' people would be working at any time, but the middle of the day on a Monday is obviously not going to be ideal for the vast majority and it's a UK site that doesn't really think of foreign buyers in the same way some of the Asian sites do.

Zavvi don't help themselves when they do most of their releases on weekends at 5pm - so no one would have expected it today as they never bother giving any kind of notice. Couple that with their announcement emails often going out AFTER the product is live. Nor do they stop people ordering 5+ copies every time even though they then claim to just cancel those orders - so why let people order that many?

Clearly they've decided to milk people by charging higher prices for lower print runs - which is fine - but they still don't have the system in place to actually provide a better service.
