I was all set to get this but I got a chance to see the film for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I cancelled this straight away afterwards.

It's easily Zombies poorest film to date. I think he peaked around Devil's Rejects/Halloween and has been in a downward spiral since (Although I did enjoy Lords Of Salem for what it was)

This definitely needs a directors cut because the Theatrical cut is terrible.

The whole thing feels thrown together and rushed and the action sequences are a complete joke.

I don't know if Zombie intended it that way, but camera work and editing goes into berserk mode any time there's any action on screen. Making it impossible to make out what's going on. And a lot of the deaths/gore actually happen off screen.

Very disappointed with this movie. I felt cheated! And so for that reason, I'm out! For now!

I couldn't agree more. I saw it around its iTunes release last year & absolutely hated it. I ranked it as my most disappointing movie of last year.

The opening five minutes are great, the black & white bit (though that could be more based on the performance than anything), & then it just all goes to hell. I'm starting to think its because Rob doesn't have a writing partner, or someone to bounce ideas off or something. His wife tells him everything is great because she's getting to star in the movies but he has no one who actually tells him that a lot of his ideas are bad. I'd love to see him direct someone else's script & see what he could do with it, might show him to be a good director but a bad writer or something.

Yeah I totally agree with that. I don't think he's a bad director as such, because he has a definite style and vision. And I do like his whole 70's vibe that he gets going on. But his writing is questionable, no doubt.

I mean even the most quoted line from this film is childish-'In hell everyone loves popcorn'! WTF? Says who? No they don't Rob. It's just terrible.

I downloaded his script that he had completed for his Crow reboot that never got made (thank the heavens for that!). It was embarrassing. The thing is, I actually think he would be perfect to direct a Crow movie. Even set it in the 70's. But the man should leave the screenplays to others. End of!

I read last year that he was set to direct a biopic of Groucho Marx but that seems to have gone quiet now again.........

I haven't read that script but I'd be very apprehensive about him having anything to do with a Crow remake as the original is one of my favorite movies.

I think part of the problem too is that his fanbase tends to be a bit blind & they'll praise whatever he does. I liked House of 1000 Corpses & his first Halloween movie was decent enough but he's resting too much on his "I only make 70s exploitation horror movies" schtick.

Tempted to get this. It's not his best film but I kind of enjoyed enjoyed it in a ****** kind of way. Steel looks ace!

After the drop on the price last month I decided to get it and then I forgot about it! Til this morning that showed up! Really cool Steelbook, now I really hope I like the movie! Lol
