4k Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc now up for pre-order now at Zavvi and will be up for pre-order from HMV on Monday the 29th Feb the date for them to come out is April .

I paid £500 for a Sony DVD player when they first came out,in fact it is still going strong in my daughters room....but I am in no hurry to upgrade to 4K....I am more than happy with my BD's at the moment.

When I get round to changing my TV in a few years time then I will consider the player and discs.

I always give it at least 12-18 months before dropping cash on new tech so they can iron out the bugs

what concerns me is reading about the so called 'region free' discs. The discs aren't regionally coded but apparently the machine is geo locked via your internet connection (which apparently it has to be connected to in order to play stuff?) If anyone has any news on that and wants to correct me, please feel free to, that was the last i read on it

I've been able to play North American 4K discs on my UK Sony UHD player (UBP-X800) without any problems...
