I think I'll hold off until a LOTR/Hobbit combined extended edition is announced.

Nice, I'm just getting the battle of the five armies steel though as I already have the other two regular editions on steel. Will definitely be interested in an extended edition steel though since I didn't get any of those yet.

It looks nice but I suspect its just the 3 films on 3 Blu-ray discs with no extras discs and not 3D unless its a jumbo steelbook

Its true to some studios it almost seems a challenge to them to see how many copies they can get me to buy of the same movie before I scream ENOUGH ALREADY

An Extended Edition for Battle of the Five Armies is yet to be officially announced. We "know" its coming but i wont be till around November like the last two.
