Good to see a trilogy steelbook announced that doesn't seem to be a jumbo.

I think I'll hold off until a LOTR/Hobbit combined extended edition is announced.

I like the art but I think it is a pass mainly for this reason. Warner likes to milk these releases which is why I am waiting/hoping for a Hobbit/LOTR set that includes both the theatrical and extended editions in one giant set. When that comes in I am all about it, 100% until then I am holding off, learnt my lesson from Watchmen

I am on the fence about this I am going to have to wait to see the final price before deciding. No way am I paying $60 especially since there is unbroken and Battle of the Five Armies on that day as well. I have four versions of the Hobbit (granted 2 of them I won during ninja week last year and are korean releases then the regular and extended versions of the film), two versions of Death of Smaug the regular and extended editions. Now add in Battle of Five Armies and probably eventually the extended edition when it comes out not to mention the three lord of the rings steels and I would get extended of those as well if they ever did US releases and I am totally hobbited out.

still cheapest I think available. I would wait to get it but it will sell out before getting price drop I would think

Its not about the "on display" quantity but there are others in your area that "Pre-ordered" it and have it saved for them in the Customer / Online order pickup area.

i was at my bestbuy when it opened this morning, they only had TWO of these, i grabbed one and the other was gone by the time i left

I picked it up figured I'd regret it later down the road if I didn't get. Takes my hobbit total to 8 steelbooks for one freaking book. Not to mention the 3 lord of the ring steels but at least those were three books :)

They had 5 at my store. Got 2 mint ones and the other 3 that were left behind were in poor shape. Good luck to anyone trying to get mint copies of this one.
