I read about the winter sale but when I access the site everything is at full price?
They are listed at full price, but when you go into individual listings you can see the actual price next to "Total" (right above the "BUY NOW" button).

I was wanting to buy the Fullslip A edition and was wondering is the movie good?
It's a blind buy for me. I haven't watched the movie yet. My only exposure to Edward Yang was Yi Yi on Criterion. So I am expecting similar slow pace storytelling. The ratings are very high from both audiences and critics on IMDB, and incidentally I also just saw that it's 4 hours long.

I would place Edward Yang's films more in arthouse category, if this helps.

it's a great film. basically a coming of age film within the backdrop of historical drama in 60s Taiwan.
It's slow-paced but not boring, every frame is meticulous. gorgeous cinematography too.

My complaint is that Nova Media didn't split the 4 hours into 2 discs to give it top bitrates. That would at least help the premium treatment.

Does anyone know how good the video/audio quality is compared to the Criterion disc? I'm considering buying this (never seen it) but I'm not sure if I should go for this or the criterion edition.

On blu-ray.com, the bitrate is exactly the same at 22.85 mbps for both. Audio is LPCM Mono for Criterion and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 for Nova.
