The March 2018 theme for the Funko and DC Legion of Collectors box is Green Lanterns. This doesn’t just look at the characters from earth but looks at the corps as a whole. There is some really good stuff in here so let’s get into this.
THE BOX ART:
The front of the box has the silhouette of one of the earth sector Lanterns. Going on the look of the person, my guess is Kyle Rayner or Hal Jordan. When you open the lid, the comic artwork has different Lanterns like Kilowog, Hal Jordon, and Sinestro in various panels as well as poses.
FUNKO POP! THREE PACK:
This is one of the best POP! offerings that Legion of Collectors in their entire run of the box with a 3-pack of these heroes: Ch’p, Guy Gardner, and Kilowog. The pack also has some of the best sculpts of any of the Lanterns to date.
Beginning with Guy, the fun thing that I went to look for were his signature boots, vest, and turtleneck; all three are there. Also, the figure wouldn’t be complete without his terrible haircut and they got it down to a “T”. He is highly detailed and has a subtlety raised eyebrow.
Kilowog is also highly detailed and looks to be designed by a different person or with a different style in mind. His face is sculpted to capture the very alien, pig-faced brute with a larger head and big body. His legs are in the style of the older POP! figures and his arms make him look giant
Ch’p also looks excellent with a very low center of gravity and pieces that can’t make him tip over. He looks very cute and ready to protect his sector. They got all of the details right on him and the coloring. I think that if he gets popular, they’ll do a flocked version because who doesn’t love a furry friend?
On each POP!, the details are nicely sculpted and the paint on them is very, very clean.
THE PINT SIZE HEROES:
The two Pint Size Heroes included are the Lantern adversaries: Hal Jordan and Sinestro. Hal is in the classic green with white gloves. Sinestro is in his Yellow Lantern Corps uniform with the emblem to go with it. The faces and emblems are vinyl stickers to make sure that the details are accurate. The other parts are painted like the skin tones and the base to the uniforms. The box is a sort of space theme with green accents.
THE T-SHIRT AND STRESS BALL:
The shirt is a deign of three of the Earth Lanterns with Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, and John Stewart as the main focus. In the background, you have various races from every sector to show how large the Lantern Corps really is. The art reminds me of a shirt from a few months ago that has a chalk-like quality. I dig the design with the subtle depth
The stress “ball” is shaped like a Green Lantern. The shape and design are nice. Like I said in my video, you can never have too many of these.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
As a whole, I really feel like this box has paid homage to the Green Lanterns in every way. This is true with the POP! Offering alone with a few fan favorites and they look incredible. You get some nice Pint Size Heroes and Sinestro does look really good. Also, the t-shirt looks really cool with all of those Lanterns being represented and the three earth versions. I do think that somewhere they needed to represent Kyle Rayner because he is a character that has gotten no love yet. I do like the stress lantern but I do see that this could be considered a filler for the box because not everyone is a fan of these. So if you can, get a hold of this box because it really is a good one for the Legion of Collectors to finish out or for it to be the next to last box.
Here is an Unboxing and Review video for this one, enjoy!
