I learned something new today for my iPad Air & iPhone 5. As you may have figured out when manually adding US Holidays to your calendar it doesn't quite define them on the correct days the following year because by choosing the same day repeated yearly doesn't mean it will necessarily fall on the correct day of the week. So I went out and found Apples actual file that is used like in OS X to add Holidays to my iOS devices.
To add US holidays to your Apple device calendar follow these steps:
* Goto Settings
* Goto Mail, Contacts, Calendar
* Click Add Account
* Click Other
* Click Add Subscribed Calendar
* In the Server field type: files.apple.com/calendars/US32Holidays.ics
* Click Next
* On the popup click Continue to turn off SSL
* Now click Save
Goto your calendar app and pull up your list of calendars and US Holidays should be in the list.
For our UK neighbors use this string instead for UK Holidays:
webcal://ical.mac.com/ical/UK32Holidays.ics
