After 'Blu ray will be dead by 2012', why blu-ray is on the way out.

In my honest opinion, I do not think that BD has lived up to its expectation. Many titles have shown little in visual improvement to the point that most question the validity of why they should progress from DVD to BD. The initial move from analog was an obvious move but in todays stuggling market, one cannot expect to have a market that upgrade their home entertainment systems from DVD to BD to 3D so frequently.

Space is also an issue. One can only have so much space for everything so going digital makes more sense.

I don't think disc based media is going to die anytime soon. People who want the best quality will always want a Blu-ray as no streaming service can match that quality. Add to that people like to feel something physical in their hands. I do think that a lot more people will go down the digital route but I think there will always be plenty of collectors who prefer to buy actual Blu-ray discs that have HD sound and extra features. None of which can be got with digital downloads.
