Whatever new technology or innovation there is today will be obsolete tomorrow. Of course they want to resell their property and have us re-buy all the films we already have

Well, we HAVE to, whether they want us to or not. I don't buy Blu rays over VHS and DVD because of the evil "they"! It is because it is better. I want the better product...However, I am not on the 4K train because it isn't that big an improvement - But the Wide color Gamet IS actually the bigger improvement.
WCG is the selling point with new TVs for me. That and the OLED screens.
1080p is the zenith for me. Anything more is not realizing you got the rock to the top of the mountain, and now you are going down the other side. (After 8K , the human eye cannot ever discern a difference).
Yes, it is was a major pain to switch formats. But, that's just the way it goes.
(And DVD isn't dead. There are THOUSANDS of titles on DVD that will never be on BR or streaming).

3D going through a hiccup due to many valid reasons but unwise to write it off as the future could see it back with a vengeance:-

I love my 4k, my 3d and my steelbooks. If it's on 3d and steelbook then that's what I'll go for, otherwise 4k is my next point if call. Having the 4k in a steelbook is perfect as it includes the bluray anyhow and those who don't yet have 4k may do in the future. I found that with 3d. When I could eventually view it, I couldn't believe how much I was missing out.

I'm hoping that these new 4k/blu-ray steels become the standard while I haven't jumped onto the 4k wagon yet I give up on DVD a long time ago (unless it's a TV show) and don't see the point in a blu-ray / dvd combo...... If if you haven't gone HD by now I doubt you ever will...

Saw this yesterday and was disappointed. It wasn't bad but I have no need to watch this again so cancelled the steel. I'll stick with my Play.com Quad steel.

I went to see it in IMAX today.....yes the movie has flaws but overall enjoyed it very much! I think its better then Prometheus but I still loved that too.
They had posters to give away today but sadly in the rush to leave I forgot to pick one up! :(

saw this last night. prometheus is wayyyy better. slighlty dissappointed with this movie. rehash of moments from previous movies. its worth watching for sure though!

Oh no, these are very bad news :ohno:. I didn´t like Prometheus much, so....I have really low expectations about Covenant now. I guess I was really naive when I thought this is gonna be finally some badass Alien flick again, after all these years. And now news like this :grumpy:

I thought it was better than Prometheus (less annoying characters) but it was still just OK. Some good moments.

I'm ignoring the reviews until I see this for myself.

Was really hoping this turns the alien franchise around and back on track after 30 years but then again I liked Prometheus for what it was

Really good movie ! Prometheus never hit the mark ? This is the reboot prometheus should have been ! This has an age restriction of "15", don't know where that came from, easily an "18" ! If you've seen Alien, you pretty much know what to expect, but it delivers by the bucket load ! Go see and decide for yourself. This was seamless, clearly Ridley Scott made sure the film was very well put together ! I loved it, worth going to see again.

The reviews are wrong, this was a quality remake/reboot of the Alien saga ! Every Alien movie has had somebody trying to say they were bad !? Cracking film, really enjoyed it !

I watched at a Showcase Xplus and have to say I really enjoyed the film, I also thought the music score suited the film very well.

Glad my HMV order went in and can't wait to watch in 4K some of the scenes shot in New Zealand and Australia was gorgeous.

Judge for yourself. Don't let other people's opinions decide whether a movie is good before you even see it.

Exactly.
I dont agree with the reviews that rip this film to shreds.
Im a huge Alien and Aliens fan and those are two of my all time fav movies however I appreciated the was interested in the angle Ridley went for in Prometheus.
Yes both Prometheus and Alien Covenant has issues BUT covenant has got that aliens style non stop xeno action going on which I loved. Some decisions Ridley made I did not agree with but hell I will go see it again in the cinema soon!

Of course Im going to see it soon and I will judge it myself. I was just little bit disconcerted by those first opinions especially after such a high expectations I had about this. So only thing what changed now is that my expectations are lower, but Im definitely not judging the movie yet. Sorry If it appeared like that.
