The reviews are wrong, this was a quality remake/reboot of the Alien saga ! Every Alien movie has had somebody trying to say they were bad !? Cracking film, really enjoyed it !

Good to hear,

I'm going Tuesday evening and I'm very much looking forward to it. That clip with the alien on the ship and banging it's head into the screen freaks me out.
And happy this is a 18 as it could of easily been dumbed down plus I heard it was very violent and how a alien film should be.

I remember seeing Prometheus with a mate and we enjoyed it, then we heard people moaning about it so we jumped on the bandwagon but a year or 2 later we watched it again and we loved it again. And Also a lot of the things we heard people moaning about were explained in the film (I feel the same about life - got bad press and being compared to other films with stupid outcomes - if they watched the same film I did then they wouldn't be saying those things) Just goes to show what people say can rub off on you.
Yeah prom has some issues but it's a **** load better than 3 & 4 plus I liked the bigger idea behind it, how it all started and where it could lead.

I'm also glad that this one brings back the Xenos (and from what I hear rather full on) because that was one of the downsides to prometheus even though it still found it interesting without them

Like ALIEN "All known versions of this work passed uncut" and a "15" certificate but "R" rated in The
States for example with "no one under 17 admitted without an accompanying parent or guardian".

Flloydo, you are in for a treat ! It does actually say cert 15, i don't know how they got away with that ?(easy an 18 rating). It flows, is full on, looks great and sounds awesome ! Prometheus got bogged down with crap characters, Covenant does not. Think Avatar, Dawn of the planet of the apes, Passengers, Interstellar, predator, hannibal to name a few, and Alien 1-4+Prometheus and you are getting close to Covenant ! Hope you enjoy the show !

I think a major part is swearing and the use of the word c*nt!

Obviously some violent films do get lower age ratings for some odd reason but I read it's to do with swearing and how it's used and the same with violence

Pretty sure the way "the worlds end" got away with a 15 cert was because the BBFC allowed the use of the word c*nt because it wasn't used in a harmful way of something random like that.

Dunno but I'm excited lol

Cheers

I'm going to see it on Wednesday. Was packed yesterday so couldn't see it and hopefully being midweek with most people working there won't be as many crowds at the cinema.

Oh no, these are very bad news :ohno:. I didn´t like Prometheus much, so....I have really low expectations about Covenant now. I guess I was really naive when I thought this is gonna be finally some badass Alien flick again, after all these years. And now news like this :grumpy:

It's not a terrible film. I didn't hate it but I after it had ended I just went 'meh'. It was just unoriginal to me and everything was so predictable. I liked the ideas that this and Prometheus had going on but it just fell short in executing them. It tries to be a mix of Alien and Aliens but isn't either. I'm in no rush to watch this again so have cancelled the steel even though I have Prometheus. Saying that it is better than Alien Resurrection.

I know that sounds harsh but I do urge you to watch it and make your own mind up. I know people who have seen it and did enjoy it. If you love it then fair enough, we're all different which is a good thing.

Sure, no worries, Im gonna watch it this Thursday probably :)

Hope the extras are as in depth as Prometheus and Alien Anthology.
Like Prometheus I hope to see deleted scenes, doubt there will be a directors cut though as not heard much of a DC.

Interesting (A) 1987 apology letter from James Cameron to H. R. Giger's agent on why Mr. Giger was not called upon to work on ALIENS after designing the incredible *Xenomorph Alien in the first film . . . and the (B) 1997 H.R. Giger letter to Fox expressing his anger at being left off the credits on ALIEN: RESURRECTION:-

November 13, 1997

To: TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX

The Alien Quartet has, from the very beginning, contained my unique and personal style. For the first film ALIEN, I was awarded an Oscar for "Best Achievement for Visual Effects". In ALIENS, a film I was not asked to work on, I still received a screen credit for "Original Alien Design". On ALIEN 3, I was cheated out of the Oscar nomination received by that film because 20th Century Fox gave me the credit, "Original Alien Design" again, instead of "Alien 3 Creature Design", as it was my rightful title in accordance to my contract and the work I had performed on the film. In 1976 I had completed two paintings, "Necronom IV" and "Necronom V", in which two long-headed creatures appeared. In 1977 these paintings were published in my book, NECRONOMICON, by Sphinx Verlag, Basel, in German. It was in this version of the book that Ridley Scott, in his search for a credible Alien creature, came across these two paintings and decided on them for the full-grown Alien, using the words "That's it!" The statement has been graciously repeated by Ridley Scott in almost every interview about his work on ALIEN.

The creatures in ALIEN: RESURRECTION are even closer to my original Alien designs than the ones which appear in ALIENS and ALIEN 3. The film also resurrects my original designs for the other stages of the creature's life-cycle, the Eggs, the Facehugger and the Chestburster. ALIEN: RESURRECTION is an excellent film. What would it look like without my Alien life-forms? In all likelihood, all the sequels to ALIEN would not even exist! The designs and my credit have been stolen from me, since I alone have designed the Alien. So why does Fox not give me the credit I rightfully earned?

As for those responsible for this conspiracy: All I can wish them is an Alien breeding inside their chests, which might just remind them that the "Alien Father" is H.R.Giger.

H.R.Giger
* H. R. Giger's Original concept entitled "Necronomicon IV"

Unfortunately, it's sold out but you might be able to find it on ebay or other secondary markets...
https://bottleneckgallery.com/collections/weekly-release/products/alien-covenant-fine-art-print

Thought a while about the bottleneck offer but days of big money poster spends are over.. Spotted some listed on Amazon from a couple of sellers here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_s...eywords=alien+covenant+poster&tag=hidefnin-21
Managed to snag a couple from local Odeon as Cineworl IImax didnt get any. Friendly cinema guy mentioned they auction off the collosal 10 foot banners in the next week or so, if any Ninjas want to adorn the side of their houses or have understanding partners £50.oo was estimated to be the right amount! I gather most Odeons do this for charity

Enjoyed the movie not perfect but good with some fantastic elements. Cant wait for the steelbook and home viewing!

Finally see this last night and thought it was excellent, was better than Prometheus and I still enjoyed that.
I recommend this because it feels like the original two and nothing like Prometheus at all except for fassbenders character who once again steals the show.

Only if you seen the film-
- only if you seen the film

David is incredible in this, still sinister and evil and literally can't believe what he is capable of - destroyed a planet, he's now some sick dr Frankenstein in a way used shaw as a vessel for his creations and the harrowing ending - now he can create a colony of Xenos!!! :OMG:

His little quips and sayings were on point and his character was better than he was in Prometheus - love the fact he's like a faulty model in terms of he's too powerful and they changed the creative part on future models, kinda feel sorry for Walter.
When he's first created he questions where we came from instantly. Everything makes sense now for what he did in Prometheus! Plus the way his father (weylan) treated him has made him hate humans- I know everyone gets the ump about why the engineers wanted to destroy earth after they created it but I see it as like humans we create and destroy, maybe they were always watching us and thought we were getting to big for our boots, maybe we were a quick experiment that got out of hand. It really don't bother me that they wanted to destroy us

And the moment he tries to tame the other creature. Damn

Good to see mcbride showing of his acting chops too

Fassbender did keep making me laugh though - the singing with his long hair tickled me, the fingering comment lol and did anyone notice the tune he was playing on the flute before it goes tits up? It was from the Prometheus score lol well random

There's a few twists you will see coming but I seriously think this is up there with the first two - at the end of the day the originals are still filled with stupid crew members who do dumb things and the second is just a action survival horror which is no different to this really. Oh and it's very gory which was good

Saw it last night, it's far from perfect but really enjoyable nonetheless. A proper companion piece for Prometheus which, despite it's flaws I also really enjoyed. Surprised it's a 15 certificate, was pretty grisly....
