I would pick this up if it was a regular G2 size but hell no to that over grown thing, a waste really like the artwork.

It is G2-sized, as are 95.46% of all French steelbooks ;). Only Warner France does G1.

It is a jumbo though, but I honestly don't see the problem, even if they could have included it in a slim steelbook, as they have done in the past with the first Blu-ray release of the Alien quadrilogy.

Back in 2011, I wasn't hooked to steelbooks as I am now, otherwise I would have picked up the steelbook version. Instead, I went with the regular version, with the facehugger stuck to the set :

It does make for an odd shape, and as Barry Zuckerkorn in Arrested Development (one of the best comedies ever, people!) would say :

:hilarious:

Long story short, I won't double dip for this new release, which I think is quite alright, I'm happy with the set I already have.

probably would have picked this up if i didn't already own the uk steelbook. also, would have been better if they could have put out an updated edition that included prometheus. no doubt one will surface at some point in the future!!!!!

Any reason why the front and back steel panels couldn't be reapplied to a regular sized steelbook case? I know that wouldn't help with the spine, but I was considering using the Play.com Aliens case. I really like the front and back artwork of this, and how colorful it is, but I don't like the plastic flipbook-style interior of Jumbo steels. And I really don't like the "upside-down" spine text

Just take the back and front plates off your UK version and put on the french ones and viola, slimmed steelbook with a normal spine. And if the spine not matching the blue nature of the rest of the steel bothers you, you can design and print out a custom one yourself. Nice little home project.

Not a fan of the jumbo so won't be buying, but good choice of art for this one but there's so many fantastic images from these films it would be almost impossible to fail. Some proper individual releases would be nice, I 'd buy the first 2 anyway :)
