Hey guys! Wanted to share this with my fellow US & Canada members.

I suppose some of our European members can benefit from this as well.

I think this is very news worthy for all us steelbook collectors, so it deserves it's own thread for now. :scat:

I just got an order in from amazon.de and I was very surprised at the SIZE
of the box that appeared, just for 6 steelbooks. Well, it appears that for any
NEW release, that they haven't packaged up yet or a catalog release that might be on backorder (like my order of Judge Dredd was), they have a new box. EEK! :oohyeah:

We all remember that the package had been improved recently to bubble wrap inside a foldover box. :movie:

Well, now there is a new box, frustration free packaging, SPECIFICALLY labeled for steelbooks / metal packaging.

Pics below of the box, before opening and then after I opened it.

"We wanted to let you know that Amazon.co.uk has introduced a £10 minimum spend to qualify for Free Super Saver Delivery in a number of product categories, effective 23 July 2013."

I got that email too, it does say:

Orders that include books, DVDs, Blu-rays, music, video games and software products continue to qualify for Free Super Saver Delivery with no minimum spend

So hopefully steelbooks still be counted as blu rays.

I had two separate parcels today. The box containing the Dark Knight was all wet and out of shape. It was not holding the steel book in place. No surprise it was dented.

Batman Begins looked ok, but it has been rubbing against the card board, so a small paint chip. Fair enough, they are sending out two replacements, but its still a pain in the butt! so annoying!

I think they need to wrap something around the steel, as well as put it in the box. It annoys me it actually says what the product is on the box too!

I'm sure this has been answered before, but do none of the sellers on Amazon UK delivery to the US besides Amazon proper?

I've added many items to my cart and checked out but they say they won't delivery to my address.

Thick bubble wrap and a sturdy box is the only effective way to protect a steelbook, other than enclosing the whole thing in jelly.

It's annoying that Amazon avoid anything plastic in the interest of going green, but they end up using so much cardboard and brown paper I feel that it's actually less green.

Many marketplace sellers do not deliver to overseas address because they want to avoid paying for return shipping charges should there be problems.

It is also not advisable to buy from non-Amazon sellers because if there is any problem you will have to deal with them individually, unless the product is fulfilled and shipped by Amazon.

PKAVFC & Real Steel, you said it guys. That's exactly what I've been trying to explain in this thread of mine that I started due to the same reason (not to mention the frustration and sleepless nights):

https://www.hidefninja.com/community/threads/31810/

I've mentioned this link even before here because most of the international customers like myself get damaged steels due to the cardboard eating into the steelbook  and lack of soft padding. You may vote for your favorite method here and leave a comment as well.

If Amazon really wants to make a point of going green, why not use eco-friendly bubble wrap, right!

Well to be honest, I believe going green is just an excuse to cut costs. We all know how cheap it is to package things in cardboard .....Smart Marketing I must admit though

I am still waiting for mine :( Ordered from amazon along with V for Vendetta, Prometheus and District 9. Obviously, it was shipped in two parcels with Dredd being shipped separate. The problem is, now a month later, I have not received any of the two packages. The DHL insists that both packages were delivered and I signed for them. My name is spelled wrong on both of the slips that serve as proof of delivery. The amazon Japan is nicely asking me to deal with the DHL! :ass:

So a pleasant experience so far :) I could not wait to get it! Now I almost wish I hadn't bought it. The DHL is investigating and trying to figure out what the *** had happened. In the mean time, I am out a good chunk of money and no product for it. And did I mention how much shipping from Japan is?!

Oh well, life goes on :D Don't think I will be ordering from amazon Japan anymore though ;)

I feel for ya! DHL is normally spot on, but it seems that they've been slipping a bit lately. I found a DHL package by my doorstep last week that was supposed to go to another address. I called up DHL and informed them of the screwup and they told me to leave it by my door and someone would pick it up the following day.

Yeah well, what are you going to do? DHL just called and said that they are still investigating and blah-blah-blah... Also mentioned that they will be calling every day and update me on what's going on, so I presume this might drag for a while now.

What I like the most though is how amazon told me to go **** myself, but very politely (twice) :)

I guess this is more of a feedback section discussion.

Man, that sucks. I have ordered a couple of times from Amazon.jp, both times delivered by DHL. No issues (other than got hit with some customs duty on one order).

If they have signed "proof" of receipt, I would say that somebody scammed you. You would think DHL would have better controls. :(

Either way, the way I see it, it is for them to figure it out and make things right. Last I was told, they would contact the driver and find out whether he delivered to the right place and blah-blah-blah.

We will see. Sounds like lots bs to me. I mean they have been "delivering" it for over a month until they indicated that the packages were "successfully delivered and signed for". Given the shipping charges, it seems an awfully long time to get my steels to someone else. I wonder if that someone else paid the duties :D

P.S. The name signed is different on two slips, one is mine and one is close but not quite.

P.P.S. F*** it. I will post updates on how things develop.

I bought Looper steelbook from zoverstocks last week and today it was cancelled. :(

Zoverstocks is Zavvi right? or am i wrong on that one?

No Zoverstocks is nothing to do with Zavvi, they are an small independent company that buys cheap stock from places like Music Magpie for example and resells it.

It once happened to me when the DHL guy signed himself and never delivered the parcel. Thankfully the CCTV camera in my building proved that the guy never attempted the delivery. DHL apologized and refunded the money but it took nearly a month to resolve the issue. As per DHL they sacked the guy.

That's ridiculous! I have a feeling that something similar happened here as well. But I don't want to assume before things clear up; that is, if they clear up.

well, after getting the two damaged steels, today was the day I was supposed to get the replacements via Amazon Logistics tracked delivery. Was on the van for delivery at 10.32am. Called Amazon at 7.40pm and they said till wait until 9pm (also when the close)

Guess what, no delivery. Their service is slipping, big time!

And to add salt to the wound, they changed status at 9.42.pm to say "could not contact customer, please contact Amazon.co.uk"

Then it was back as "on delivery" at 7.42am. Still waiting!

Amazon employ cowboy couriers, its official!

Planning to get four steels from amazon.fr. Total would be around €55. Would customs make me pay tax or will it be delivered straight to my house tax free? I'm from the U.S. Thanks in advance.

I very much doubt you'll get hit by customs as its a lowish value so it should get to your house no probs.
