Not to rub it in to those of you who aren't a fan of the winning art, but here were the runners up...

I think what may have helped Benedict's designs win is the fact that he'd created both front AND back art... even less work for the studio then I guess *shrug*.

You know what, I really like the second one. I rememeber that being posted a while back and it getting loads of negative comments but I actually really like it.

The winner by far for me was the one in the middle here, as it's a film set in the eighties it perfectly captured the vibe of the film AND the era. Extremely dissapointed with the winning artwork. Whilst it's a stunning piece of art in its own right, it just doesn't represent the film for me at all.

I can only assume the studio are being tight a**es and want to save on too many paint hits. Keep it to three colours only they said, save on paint. Pfft.

After such a long wait for this steel it's a major dissapointment for me.

Doubtful whether I'll even bother getting this now.

I wasn't too big of a fan of the middle one, but I do prefer it to the art that was selected. I would be okay with this art if it wasn't for the teeth though I think, they just look so out of place that it completely ruins the front.

If those are the runner ups... I'm glad they went with what they did.
I've always preferred original promo. art from the film (posters and such) over "fan art" when it comes to steelbooks since I consider them to be my definitive owned copy of the film.

This is just depressing. Those are so much better. They always pick the worst ones in these competitions. Or the ones that will take the least amount of paint and detail.

If we complain enough can we get the back switched to the front?

I don't think it's bad but the teeth do look a bit weird and I think there was 2 or 3 that were much better but hey I'm the guy who thinks the nipple ice pack cover from the uk is the best

Hopefully they stick to their decision regardless of some people preferring other designs. Some people like this one, myself included, just as some dislike it. They can't please everyone no matter which design they pick, so just stick with the decision, it will still sell out.

I think if we complain enough the studios will go back to not seeking input at all, and instead just release them ("you get what you get and you don't get upset"), as most retailers already do, lol.
They'd be less complaints if studios asked for feedback properly. Fans submit art, fans pick winner based on their votes. No contest so far has resulted in a worshipped steelbook.

For this title, if I was LionsgateUK I wouldn't have even asked. Their track record for nice steels lately would have resulted in something better than what they picked.

No I don't think it will sell out. Reaction across the forums and social networks except a few has been predominantly negative. Pleasing a few by disappointing the many means a failed product liable to be added to Zavvi's bargain bin. While the film is a firm favourite on here for a steelbook it's still a niche film to the general populace who the retailer has to also cater to. Zavvi sell out of popular titles, they don't on niche films unless it's small print runs and I can't see this being a small run.
